Guillermo Del Toro Gives Brief Update On HEAVEN SENT

Recently Collider had an interview with Guilermo Del Toro on many things including his new HBO show, Monsters and a topic that many comic book fans love to hear, Justice League: Dark. Del Toro kept it simple when it comes to Justice League: Dark . Here's what Collider had to say on the topic.

Del Toro revealed that his script features Constantine, The Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman and Zantanna as the team. He stated that there are other characters in the mix too (“everybody that doesn’t feel like a repeat”) – but any additional info would be too ‘spoilery’ for the hypothetical film. Del Toro also said that “If they [Warners] like the [script], I’ll do it; if not…”

On the topic of Del Toro's upcoming HBO show, Monster .
Del Toro said that he just submitted the pilot script to HBO last week and that they’re reading it right now. He revealed his version is very respectful of Urasawa’s manga.

Del Toro also showed a new trailer for this summer's blockbuster film, Pacific Rim , while Collider could not actually find a link to the trailer, they have reported what they say during the trailer.
the winged kaiju, the Jaeger hitting the alien/monster with a boat, Idris Elba’s ‘Cancel the Apocalypse’ line, etc… Among the new footage shown, a couple more brief glances of Ron Perlman’s character Hannibal Chau – who seems to share more than a few scenes with Charlie Day’s Dr. Newton Geiszler. The trailer featured a bit more of Charlie Day than previous iterations as he looks up pensively at the action unfolding around him, ducks, hides, stares off in the snow Perlman at his side, and of course offers up the obligatory “This is going to be awesome” line/hopeful merit indication.

So how do you feel about Del Toro directing Justice League: Dark? And will you be catching his new tv show, Monster on HBO? Comment below and let us know! Until then you can catch Del Toro's latest film, Pacific Rim that flies into theatres everywhere July 11th.

Interested to see how JL Dark comes along. I know it can be a good flick, the studio just has to see the potential. Would be interesting to see solo Swamp Thing and Constantine films, too.

The movie is currently called Dark Universe. Del Toro has never referred to it as Justice League Dark, yet Collider refuses to call it Dark Universe and insists on calling it Justice League Dark.

This will never happen. I love GDT's work, but he's a lazy, uncommitting bastard who only makes hollow promises, laughs, and then continues doing whatever the [frick] he wants to do anyway.

Also, i love the names in Pacific Rim. It's a homage to the fact that in Japan, their english basically sucks and they can't put any proper English names together because it's not their native tongue, so they come up with outrageous names like Lelouch Lamperouge, Rolo Lamperouge, Diethard Reid etc. In the movie, names like Raleigh Beckett, Stacker Pentecost and Newton Geizler sound PERFECTLY like names Japanese would come up with. Love it!

I'd prefer it if we got a Justice League movie before we went with the supernatural team, but GDT is the best when it comes to the supernatural so I'm sure it will be awesome.

@GetsugaTensho22, you do understand that Del Toro does not own a film studio and cannot make a film unless a studio commits to making it, right?

If he intends to make a movie and it doesn't get made, it's most likely because the studio would not go forward with it, not because he's lazy or not committed. Hell, the man didn't direct a movie for 5 years because he spent all that time dedicated to developing The Hobbit and At the Mountains of Madness, but ended up having to leave one because the studio kept dragging it's feet on the production start and having the other cancelled do to budgetary concerns.

I don't believe he's made any promises to do anything. Why would he? He's announced projects he was developing, some of which have fallen through. But the majority, if not all, of them didn't go forward due to the studios not wanting to pursue them. He has no control over that.

It'll be hilarious if JL Dark hits the big screen before Justice League. But this is WB we're talking about, so no chance it gets greenlit.

Excited for this but I want a Swamp Thing movie movie first before they decide to assemble a team. Hope they use Alan Moore's Swamp Thing material for the movie. Nothing against New 52 Swamp Thing by Snyder but I simply prefer Moore's Swamp Thing over the new one.

Hellboy was a "classic"? I agree that Pan's Labyrinth was a classic, but IDK about Hellboy. It was good, yes, but not better than Blade II.

Instead of talking shite all the time he needs to get his finger out his ass and start directing some movies. Pacific Rim is his first directed in about 5 years. Don't get me wrong i like his films, but instead of saying he's thinking or talking about doing certain projects. He should concentrate on one at a time, then maybe he would be actually directing more films because in the last ten year his output is terrible. I really hope this improves.

I really hope Warner Bros. likes the script!!!

Even if they don't, they should be willing to work with an amazing director like Guilleremo Del Toro.

And he could always rewrite the script, which is very common.
