J.K. Simmons Reveals The Extent Of His Role In JUSTICE LEAGUE & Teases The Future Of The "Badass" Commissioner
Elaborating on his previous comments, former Spider-Man star J.K. Simmons once again weighs in on his badass take on Commissioner Gordon in Justice League, the extent of his role, & more!
A few weeks back when Entertainment Weekly caught up with him, J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man) mentioned he was hoping to bring a more badass iteration of Commissioner James Gordon to life when the character makes his DC Films debut in Warner Bros.' Justice League. He also went on to describe his depiction of the character as more of a partner to Ben Affleck's Batman versus someone who needed to be rescued time and time again and also expressed his desire to return to the role in future DC cinematic adventures.
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, at the 2016 MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, Simmons expanded on his initial statement a bit by describing the extent of his role in Zack Snyder's currently filming Justice League and once again touched on his hopeful involvement in upcoming DC features, which knock on wood, he hopes all still happen. Speaking on his role, he admits that his appearance in Justice League is relatively minor compared to what it hopes it should eventually evolve into in future installments and more or less namedrops the Affleck-directed solo Batman film, which was already the safest bet for the next time we see Gordon pop up in the DC's ever-growing cinematic universe.
Check out Simmons' comments below and/or in the video that follows:
"If you look at the history of the character, In the comics, he's a pretty tough guy. He's not just this sort of comic relief, he's not just anything, he's a part of that universe. And in the first film that we're currently shooting [Justice League], my part is not as big as, knock wood, it will be in some of the future films, the Batman film, you never know for sure what's going to be made, what's not going to be made, but the plan is, Plan A, if that indeed comes to fruition, is that there will be more Commissioner Gordon in the future. And I have absolutely no idea, zero idea, but I'm lobbying right now: let Commissioner Gordon be a badass."
