There was a time when Zack Snyder was unofficially tasked with shaping the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., though none of us knew it at the time...including him! Man of Steel was the opening chapter, while Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice expanded that shared world with the debut of several new superheroes.
Warner Bros., concerned by the critical response to that movie and Suicide Squad, decided to change course and enlist Joss Whedon to take charge of Justice League. Believing the filmmaker behind The Avengers would deliver a guaranteed hit, he instead dropped a bigger bomb than anything that had preceded the 2017 flop in the DCEU.
Snyder finally got to share his epic original vision with the world when Zack Snyder's Justice League was released on HBO Max in 2021. Next month, however, the filmmaker looks set to bid a final farewell to his time in that comic book world with a "Full Circle" event featuring screenings of all three movies.
As you can see below, Snyder has shared an early sneak peek at a special poster for the event that's been illustrated by comic book artist and DC Comics CCO Jim Lee.
Pictured below are Henry Cavill's Superman, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ray Fisher's Cyborg, and Ray Porter's Darkseid. We're sure the rest of the League will be highlighted on the finished product and Lee has long been a supporter of Snyder's, providing artwork for SteelBook editions of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League.
As much as many fans would love to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, DC Studios is rebooting the franchise as the DCU, and we don't anticipate Snyder getting to realise his vision in the coming years.
However, there's always a chance James Gunn and Peter Safran will bring the director's vision "full circle" by allowing him to end that story in a comic book or animated series.
