JUSTICE LEAGUE Trailer Reportedly Features A First Look At Another Of The DCEU's New Gods

We know that Steppenwolf and Darkseid will factor into Zack Snyder's Justice League, but it appears as if we can look forward to meeting another member of the filmmaker's version of The New Gods...

We know that the first teaser trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League will debut at the upcoming DC FanDome event, and a new report from Beyond The Trailer indicates that it will include a first look at the villainous Desaad.

Host Grace Randolph claims to have seen an unrendered version of the trailer, which does make sense considering she recently got to interview Snyder.

"Yes, I will, because I haven't seen it rendered," the host said when asked about whether she would share a reaction video for the trailer. "And I will admit, at the beginning of the reaction, that I've already seen it unrendered. I want to see Desaad's face. I only saw like an outline."

Desaad showing up in the trailer probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise, especially as Snyder actually confirmed that one scene in the Snyder Cut shows Steppenwolf reporting to the villain.

In the comic books, Desaad is a sadist, torturer, and coward, as well as chief counsellor to Darkseid. He oversees the day-to-day operations of Apokolips with a cruel hand, and was created by Jack Kirby. Chances are his role will be a minor one, and there's obviously no word on how any of this affects Ava DuVernay's plans for The New Gods movie she's supposed to be developing.

As well as this Justice League news, Randolph claims DC FanDome could feature new looks at Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad, as well as a full cast reveal for Black Adam

Gonna assume the rest of Zack’s New Gods look as uninspired, grey and nondescript as his Steppenwolf?

@tmp3 - you're saying a bunch of Jack Kirby era outrageously designed characters will be devoided of all color and personality in a Zack Snyder flick? what would ever give you that idea?

No disrespect meant to those who campaigned and wanted this, but how does slapping a fresh coat of paint on a dud movie make it better?

I understand it allows audiences to see the movie as originally intended by the director, which is important after how badly Whedon treated it.

I'd feel better as a DC fan if the studio moved away from Snyder's vision as much as possible. Wanting to see a live-action Justice League my entire life, this movie is not it. Snyder's JL are cynical, boring, lifeless heroes compared with their comics counterparts, and his world-view is depressing and tired.

Mark my words, all his New Gods are gonna look like a big, grey, CG-humanoid mess just like his Steppenwolfinnameonly.

..I don’t get why people enjoy his design choices for the New gods they’re huge CGI messes...atleast the Stephenwolf we got in the JL movie looked like he was more human... still curious if in the new gods film we will see the same designs or new ones.

@roxas1003 - New Gods will have new designs, you can’t get performances out of the designs that Snyder gave them

@tmp3 - It takes talent to adapt/remake Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead frame by frame and still manage to miss the underlying themes.

@Reeds2Much - Watchmen ends with a My Chemical Romance cover of a Bob Dylan song, lmfao. I feel like that perfectly encapsulates his take on that material.

@tmp3 - Yeah Watchmen sucked. /s

She's never made what I would consider an entertaining movie. She's made activist crap, nothing of scale (that was remotely good) and certainly nothing that would put butts in seats. She should spend her time Zooming with Oprah, talking about the 1619 Project. That's about all she is capable of.

She's already hinting on Twitter that the 4th World will become another SJW vehicle. She should stay far, far away from these beloved characters.

@CharleyBologna - I mean, Snyder’s Watchmen did suck, lol

RandyOrtonLF - 8/12/2020, 10:24 AM
@CharleyBologna - You're the reason people could make a valid argument against freedom of speech.

Also Watchmen [frick]ing sucks. Snyder has absolutely no understanding of the material. The same way he has no understanding of Batman or Superman. His head is way too far up his ass. He's an awful filmmaker who's yet to make a good movie in my opinion. Ava is an excellent filmmaker who made one bad film.
CharleyBologna
CharleyBologna - 8/12/2020, 10:40 AM
@RandyOrtonLF - She's said on twitter that the 4th World is about inclusion etc. She's signalling that it will be woke crap. She also has only made 1 film that wasn't protest work, and it stunk up the theaters. So I guess having an opinion different from yours is an argument against free speech?

For the record: I fully support your right to be wrong and self-deluded.

@tmp3 - How? Please illuminate us with your wisdom.
tmp3
tmp3 - 8/12/2020, 11:00 AM
@CharleyBologna - It misunderstood the source material, the acting was mostly terrible (Laurie and Ozy were especially mis-cast), it somehow made something as human and sad as the book into something completely cold. Also Snyder has no idea how to construct scenes, everything feels so poorly paced.
Billy Crudop is the film's one saving grace.

Both 300 and Watchmen are good. That's because he basically translated page to screen, but yea, he is an Auteur who has failed almost completely.
RandyOrtonLF
RandyOrtonLF - 8/12/2020, 1:22 PM
@Goldboink - He couldn't even do that properly with Watchmen. It's like he just saw the coolest looking frames and redid them without actually putting any thought into the poetry between the lines.
Goldboink
Goldboink - 8/12/2020, 2:02 PM
@RandyOrtonLF -
Dont' get me wrong, dude is a hack and had shown exactly nothing to warrant turning the DCEU over to him creatively. I would be happiest if he went about his business and left things well enough alone but hey, it's a free country I guess.

He reminds me of that guy at work who thought that the business couldn't' run without him even though he was constantly messing things up and when he gets canned and can't find anyone to hire him as an assistant manager he keeps pestering the company who canned him to get his old job back and finally after everyone else quits and the whole thing is about to tank they reluctantly agree to give him a second chance.

@tmp3 - I get watchmen. I don't know how old you are, but I'm old and I've been reading it on an annual basis for decades.

I agree on Laurie's casting (don't care for Malin in anything) and while I see the POV on Matthew Goode, I still thought he did ok with my least favorite character in the story. The rest of the casting was stupid-good, and Crudop wasn't the only saving grace (unless you saw a cut that didn't have Morgan or Haley or Frewer).

Synder, with his limited changes, actually brought humanity to the story in a way the eluded the brilliant but genuinely cold (and probably insane) Moore.

Example: The humanity shown by comedian with Moloch comes through better in the film (minor nitpick).

Real good example: in the comic, when Manhattan kills Rorschach, the way Owl behaves makes no real sense given how warmly he generally feels about him at time before. It always bothered me that he watched his friend die horribly for no reason other than he had actual principals (something missing from the rest of the characters in the book - funny only the supposed psychopath seemed to care about the truth) and really didn't react. In the film, he does react. He's in pain and sad and angry. You know, like a human would be. That was a changing begging to be made and, to me, totally blows the whole "Snyder is so cold whah whah" argument away.

Hate on Snyder all you want. Hate on BvS. MOS. Hate on his love for Ayn Rand (I hate on that myself). I think you are wrong, but tastes are tastes and difficult to argue. Watchmen, though, is a modern masterpiece of both writing (Moore) and film making (Snyder).

RandyOrtonLF - 8/12/2020, 3:01 PM
@Goldboink - I totally get you dude. The Watchmen movie honestly frustrates me because, if it wasn't based on a comic and was solely original, it'd be a masterpiece. And when I was 12 I saw the film and cinemas and it was probably the best thing I'd ever seen.

Then I read the comic and realised everything good in the movie was straight copied, and everything shit was Snyder. He's a very interesting individual that's for sure.
