ZACK SNYDER's JUSTICE LEAGUE: Warner Bros. Said No To Reshoots With Original Cast Members

Zack Snyder is being given the opportunity to complete his version of Justice League, but when the director asked the studio about reshoots with the original cast, they quickly shot the idea down...

After two-and-a-half years of demands for Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, the studio has finally given in, and Zack Snyder's Justice League will debut on HBO Max sometime next year.

While between $20 million - $30 million is being spent on finishing his version of the movie in post-production, it sounds like Warner Bros. may have drawn the line at the filmmaker's ambitious plans to bring cast members back for reshoots, which would have presumably added even more scenes.

"There’s not going to be any reshoots of any kind with any actors," The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez explains. "It’s just additional dialogue. Here’s something that hasn’t been reported yet: [Snyder] did want to shoot and he wanted to do additional photography but HBO Max said no, that’s not happening."

"We’ll give you money for post-production, for special effects, for scoring, and even ADR but no reshoots of any kind on this movie."

Honestly, that makes sense as Warner Bros. has already spent a huge amount on the film - but it's hard not to wonder whether this means we won't end up getting the Martian Manhunter scene Snyder has shared in storyboard form.

Still, it's possible that could change, and equally as likely that the scene could be put together with VFX. As cool as it would have been for Snyder to be able to bring back some cast members, that would have sent costs through the roof, and you can't blame the studio for trying to keep them under control.

What do you guys think? Are you still excited for Zack Sndyer's Justice League?

No shit. HBO Max wants this at at low a cost as possible; they made a $20m "event" mini-series out of a flop movie. It seems to have generated interest on twitter, lets see if that results in actual subscriber growth.

@tmp3 - once the series is done, I imagine an influx of cancellations will occur

@xfactor - Maybe they'll make it a bi-weekly, 8 part show. Milk them for 4 months.

@tmp3 - doubtful. I see it as a weekly mini series while they add more titles in the process that will keep a good chunk of subscribers

@tmp3 - subscribe? For this shit?

@GreedoSarducci - I mean, it's a pretty great streaming service. HBO already makes the best shit on TV; it's just the "Max Originals" that are lacking.

@tmp3 - They should ADR the whole movie and make it look like a 70's Kung-Fu flick.

@bs77 - That's too interesting for someone as uninspired as the Zackmaster prime 🤷‍♂️

Honestly may as well allow reshoots with some of that money. Because otherwise, people will complain about it not being Zach's true vision again. May as well go all out with it. If you bring the actors in for ADR then why not put them in front of the camera. Nobody would object to more Cavil Superman and Gadot Wonder Woman.

@Nightwing1015 - I mean, technically we are getting more of both, since we've never seen the footage before. You'd have to renegotiate contracts though, which would be more pricey than the point that Max thought was willing to invest into this. Also, Affleck sounds like he never wants to be involved with a project of this scale ever again, so good luck convincing him lol.

@Nightwing1015 - just to get gal and henry Back would bump up the cost exponentially. Wb is not looking to invest any further with this cut than what was already allotted

@Nightwing1015 - People can record dialog from anywhere in the world... you have to actually co-ordinate schedules, book locations, bring in a crew, etc. in order to actually shoot additional scenes. It’s way more expensive, and a huge head ache... especially when Factor in Covid-19 screwing up projects that are far higher priorities than this one.

And yet they spend an extra 30 million on this...

@tmp3 - Oh yeah practically it would never work. Affleck would never come back.

@Nightwing1015 - I mean... he doesn't have much reason to leave his house in general...

@Nightwing1015 - it’s only 20 million. That and the fact that they’re not forking over extra for reshoots alone says something. Unfortunately, as I stated before, the Snyder cut fans aren’t going to stop there. They’re already demanding Snyder be rehired for justice league 2, and request affleck to come back. So this cut really just added more fuel to the fire in my opinion.

@Nightwing1015 - If I were Snyder, I would call up the actors and see if any one of them was passionate enough to do a few reshoots for free. I honestly think some of them would be down for it, just to get a better version out there. and he probably could put up the money for the equipment and stuff.
