Henry Cavill Shares His Thoughts On ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE; Says He'd "Love To" Play Superman Again

Henry Cavill has finally shared his thoughts on Zack Snyder's Justice League, saying he felt there "was a wonderful tenderness to the movie." He also expresses his desire to reprise the role of Superman.

Although he did his part to promote the movie prior to its release, Henry Cavill has refrained from weighing in on Zack Snyder's Justice League in any great detail over the past year. Some believe this was due to his (reportedly) strained relationship with Warner Bros., but whatever the case may be, the Man of Steel actor now seems more willing to share his thoughts on the "Snyder Cut."

"I really enjoyed it," Cavill told Fox 5 Washington DC during a recent interview. "I thought it was a wonderful way of Zack getting his version of the story out, and important to do too. I thought there was a wonderful tenderness to the movie which existed and that was essential for the representation of Superman."

The Witcher star was also asked about a potential return as Superman, and reiterated that as much as he'd love to reprise the role, the ball is not in his court. "I would love to play Superman again, it all depends. There's so many moving parts to that – that it's not just down to my desire."

Reports did the rounds earlier this year that Cavill and Warner Bros. struck a new deal for the actor to appear as Superman in several upcoming projects, but we haven't had any solid updates since. We do know that Ta-Nehisi Coates is currently writing a period movie focusing on a Black Superman, while Michael B. Jordan is developing a series for HBO Max focusing on Calvin Ellis.

The Flash is going to introduce several alternate reality versions of established heroes - including Sasha Calle's Supergirl - so we'll hopefully have a better idea of the studio's plans for Superman when the movie races into theaters next year.

Again, they must REALLY HATE Cavill over there to not give him another opportunity to do Superman with a different director (they must REALLY hate Snyder too.) The only hope he has of ever donning the cape ever again is if when Discovery takes over they completely clean house over there at WB and start over with new suits running the show. Because the current suits ain't NEVER gonna let that man, arguably the best Superman since Reeves, play the role ever again. And as a DC fan, that breaks my heart.

@BecauseICare - Tbh I don’t think they hate Snyder, I think they are doing whatever they can to chase the MCU’s success and see what he did as antithetical to replicating that. Even as someone critical of their decisions and a fan of the DCEU as Zack did it it’s hard to argue with that concept though. What he did just doesn’t have the broad appeal that the MCU does so they aren’t wrong even if I think they still don’t know the first thing about why those movies work

@Ha1frican - If they are still chasing their competition then they have not learned anything in the last 8 years. They are supposed to compete against themselves and push themselves each time with a new movie, being too caught up with what Marvel Studios is doing just hurst them.

I was just thinking about it yesterday. DC wasting this guy is just a crime in itself, and the fact he still wants to play Supes, and STILL doesn't get a call back is disheartening.

@KWilly - Agreed. He would shine with the right material.

@KWilly -
He can want to play Supes till he's blue in the face. Don't let Cavill fool you. He wants Gal Gadot money, and WB doesn't want to pay that price tag.

Tenderness? Not sure that's the word I would use unless you're talking about Cyborg.
