SPOILERS: The Identity Of JUSTICE LEAGUE's Biggest Surprise Character Cameo Has Been Revealed

Justice League finally confirmed that the Green Lantern Corps exists in the DC Films Universe but the character's cameo during the movie's flashback to Steppenwolf's first attack on Earth was so quick that it was impossible to figure out his or her identity. As you can see below, though, one fan has seemingly figured out who the character was (before the villain took him out) and it's a pretty great Easter Egg!

It seems this member of the Green Lantern Corps was Yalan Gur, and he first appeared in 1991's Green Lantern #19. It was revealed there that he protected Space Sector 2814 over two thousand years ago but power corrupted him and he was killed by humans when the Guardians of Oa made him vulnerable to wood (the Green Lantern comics were seriously odd before Geoff Johns took over the series).

Of course, his fate in the source material is much different as he's skewered by Steppenwolf's axe and his ring quickly flies off to find a new host. Last year, Zack Snyder indicated that he'd been talking to Johns about obscure members of the Corps and one of them showing up in Justice League has been probably the movie's worst kept secret for a while now. What do you guys think of this reveal?

Since Hal Jordan wasn’t a member of the team he founded I have a hard time caring too much who the random Green Lantern Easter egg we got in a battle scene was.

@TheUnworthyThor - ...but it was just an easter egg.

The real flaw here is that that scene didnt get to play out longer.

the next lantern to appear should be Abin Sur. One that arrives badly wounded to the Earth after a confrontation with Darkseid.

I didn't like the film but seeing some Lantern action was a welcomed surprise.

It is kind of neat that they bothered to do this. Could have just been some alien. I can appreciate that.

When I first saw him for a moment I thought he was carrying his Power Battery lodged in his chest. That could be true.

This scene had me freaking out. I had a feeling we would be getting a mention or something of the Green Lanterns. I didn't think we'd be getting an actual Green Lantern. I loved it. Especially the scene where the ring departs with the death of the Lantern and flies off to find a new host. It felt like it came right off of a Comic Book panel. I'm glad they left this in.

Nice artwork! I almost threw up in my mouth looking at it! Where'd they get those panels from, a coloring book? Woof!!

I love the way Zeus screams NO! after he dies. Maybe he and the Green Lantern were friends.

It was cool to see the Corp in some form but the fact that a Green Lantern appeared as a cameo rather than a main character in the first JL film is a slap in the face.
