With 2022 on its way out, we're going to start looking ahead to next year with our epic 2023 movie preview, where we'll spotlight nearly every major upcoming release studio-by-studio.

We've already previewed Walt Disney Studios' upcoming theatrical slate, which has plenty of exciting movies on the way, but now, we're taking a look at Disney+ and all that Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and more have heading to the small screen in 2023!

Marvel Studios is, of course, the headliner with Secret Invasion and Loki season two, but Lucasfilm has a big year ahead of them as well with The Mandalorian season three and Ahsoka

Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Season 2

Star Wars: The Bad Batch returns for its second season this January, picking up six months after the events of season one and we'll get to see our favorite band of misfits embarking on all-new adventures. We also have interviews incoming with the cast and crew, so be on the lookout!

Cast: Dee Bradley Baker and Michelle Ang

Release Date: January 4

What If...? - Season 2

What If...? is expected to return for its second season in the early part of 2023 and while we don't know much of what to expect, the premiere will once again focus on Captain Carter and Steve Rogers.

Cast: Jeffrey Wright

Release Date: Early 2023

Secret Invasion

Nick Fury takes center stage in this upcoming Marvel Studios miniseries as he partners with Talos to determine just how deep the Skrulls have infiltrated the Earth and how they can stop them. This should be one of the most exciting MCU projects of the year!

Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle, Dermot Mulroney, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, Carmen Ejogo, and Charlayne Woodard

Release Date: Early 2023

Echo

After her introduction in Hawkeye, Maya Lopez returns in her own series, Echo, where she'll begin to develop her own superhero persona. With Daredevil also slated to appear, she'll have a more than worthy mentor in her quest to take down the Kingpin once and for all.

Rumor has it that this one may have been delayed, so stay tuned into CBM for any updates.

Cast: Alaqua Cox, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, Zahn McClarnon, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Charlie Cox

Release Date: Mid 2023 / TBD 2024

Ironheart

Following her introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams returns in Ironheart, which has been heavily rumored to also bring Sacha Baron Cohen into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as none other than Mephisto!

Cast: Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Jim Rash, Lyric Ross, Harper Anthony, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, Alden Ehrenreich, Shea Couleé, Zoe Terakes, Regan Aliyah, Shakira Barrera, Rashida "Sheedz" Olayiwola, Sonia Denis, Paul Calderón, Cree Summer, and Sacha Baron Cohen

Release Date: Late 2023

Ahsoka

Through her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano getting her own series is long overdue and fans will finally have their wishes granted in next year's Ahsoka. Not much else is known just yet, but we're expected to see Darth Vader, so a rematch is likely on the cards.

Cast: Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, Eman Esfandi, Ivanna Sakhno, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Ray Stevenson

Release Date: TBD 2023

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Jon Watts is at the helm of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a coming-of-age story set around the same time as The Mandalorian, and while it's scheduled to arrive sometime next year, we wouldn't necessarily be surprsied if it ends up getting pushed a little further down the line.

Cast: Jude Law

Release Date: TBD 2023

Loki - Season 2

Loki season one was one of the best-received entries of Phase 4, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that its second season is one of the more hotly awaited Phase 5 properties, as the fan-favorite God of Mischief does his best to fix the proverbial timeline!

Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Ke Huy Quan, Rafael Casal, and Kate Dickie

Release Date: Mid 2023

Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Much has been rumored about Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but very little has been confirmed, and based on context clues, it seems likely we'll get to see Agatha train a whole new generation of witches and warlocks in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The bigger question, however, is whether we'll see the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) make a cameo.

Cast: Kathryn Hahn, Emma Caulfield Ford, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzie, and Sasheer Zamata

Release Date: Late 2023

X-Men '97

The mutants are back in X-Men '97, an upcoming revival of the acclaimed animated series, this time produced by Marvel Studios themselves. While the series isn't expected to be set with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we'd imagine some of what we see will lay some sort of groundwork for what the studio is planning for their live-action counterparts.

Cast: Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Alyson Court, Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and A. J. Locascio

Release Date: August 11

The Mandalorian - Season 2

After reuniting with Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett, Mando and his surrogate son return in the hotly-awaited third season of The Mandalorian. The teaser has revealed some of what to expect, but we're sure Jon Favreau and company have plenty of surprises in store, especially with Mando expected to head toward Mandalore.

Cast: Pedro Pascal, Grogu, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Katee Sackhoff, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Amy Sedaris, Christopher Lloyd, and Tim Meadows

Release Date: March 1, 2023

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is an upcoming children's animated series that will follow Younglings as they embark on their own adventures to become Jedi Knights.

Cast: TBD

Release Date: Early 2023

@TheDoctor1225 - I'm skeptical about but looking forward to DD: Born Again. Loki looks very promising. Secret Invasion looks intriguing. Super hyped for X-Men '97. I'm just gonna watch Agatha for Kathryn and my girl Aubrey Plaza. Marvel Zombies looks really interesting. I couldn't get into What If originally but I'm gonna give the second season a chance. I'm completely skipping Echo, Freshman Year, and Ironheart.

I forgot Disney was making a Goosebumps thing. Please make it more like the 90s series and less like the recent movies (I have a soft spot for the first one but the second one was dogshit)

@Reginator - Lol I actually thought Titania was one of the funniest things about the show imo. I wanna see her meet and eventually marry Absorbing Man in the future.

Secret Invasion is the only D+ show I will tune into.

For THAT, I'll watch.

If they waste such a great villain as Mephisto in another Disney+ junk show like Ironheart, and make it worse by having him played by trashy a$$ clown Sasha Baron Cohen, I will throw up.

Man, I really hope those are terrible false rumors.

@DocSpock - it amazes me how many people are into demons

@DocSpock - Why is Cohen a trashy a$$ clown?
DocSpock
DocSpock - 12/28/2022, 2:58 PM
@Pathogen -

I think he represents the worst types of low brow trash humor.

I can't stand anything I have seen him in.

Pathogen

@DocSpock - I'd normally agree with you. His movies have what I consider to be crass filler. But his comedic genius doesn't lie in his Borat or Ali G movies. They lie in how he exposes societal issues in ways that no one involved can ever claim they were taken out of context, and he ridicules them so completely with the viewer that its a commentary all on its own.
If you do watch some other roles, he's actually a fantastic actor. He would have made an incredible Freddy Mercury.

I love the MCU and most of its movies....

but I am disappointed they are doing Secret Invasion in a Disney+ show. That should be in the toolbox as a major double movie event blow out.

Oh well...

Secret Invasion, Loki and of course X-Men 97 top of the list. Cannot wait for that theme tune to play and to know it's a brand new episode. I'll be grinning like an idiot.

I'm liking this series btw Rohan, you're the undisputed MVP.
