Marvel Studios Reportedly Hires Puerto Rican Director Alejandra López For Unknown Project

It appears the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to add another impressive filmmaker to its roster as Puerto Rican director Alejandra López has seemingly confirmed that she's working on a Marvel project.

Director Alejandra López has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe if a Facebook post from the filmmaker is to be believed. As you can see below, López confirmed that her next project has taken her to Burbank, California, and accompanied that with a photo of herself in a studio with the Marvel logo displayed clearly above her head.

There's no word on what project she's involved with, but each of the officially announced Phase 4 movies have directors at this stage. It also seems unlikely that López is working on something like Blade or the X-Men and Fantastic Four reboots this soon.

There are plenty of options on Disney+, of course, and it's possible she's one of the unannounced directors working on WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, or even upcoming releases like Moon Knight and She-Hulk. Whatever the case may be, this post has generated a lot of wild speculation online about what she's been tasked with working on.

López isn't a huge name in the directing world, and is perhaps best known for helming short film The Blue Cape (she's also directed shorts ADDitude and Fulano). The filmmaker has writing and acting experience as well, so it remains to be seen what she'll bring to this shared world.

I can see here work on She-Hulk, based on what she worked at before she's seems like a good fit

OT: Anyone here watched Mogul Mowgli, Concrete Cowboy or Six Minutes to Midnight? And if so, are they recommended? Thinking about watching them, but I'm not sure yet

@bkmeijer - considering she hasn't done much, would be a good idea to use the shows to test out directors.

She has to work on a Disney + America Chavez Show. After the character's rumored debut in "Multiverse of Madness," it would be great to continue seeing the character on his own show.

@Repian - very inclusive while excluding her from everything else
heyy1
heyy1 - 10/20/2020, 6:34 AM
@Repian - what does she have to do with magic and mystism anyways? in my opinion Doctor Strange 2 isn't the right movie to include her.
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 10/20/2020, 6:53 AM
@heyy1 - Chavez is from an alternate reality, which seems to be the whole gimmick of Multiverse of Madness.
Roodi
Roodi - 10/20/2020, 6:53 AM
@heyy1 - DS2 is dealing with the multiverse and AC can make holes in reality that lead to the multiverse.
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 10/20/2020, 6:59 AM
@heyy1 - agreed she should be on The Amazingable Spider-man Into the Spiderverse of Sadness 3: the Sinister Sixth: Jamie Foxx’s Red Dead Redemption Two
heyy1

@Spock0Clock @Roodi - I don't understand is she a different version of an already exsisting avenger? why is she so connected to the multiverse?
heyy1
heyy1 - 10/20/2020, 7:09 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - Lol, I swear its too early for spider-verse, spiderman is considered an outlaw by society, this is a great premise on it's own
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 10/20/2020, 7:18 AM
@heyy1 - Optimist here, it’s a
great premise even for a Sinister 6. It was my first thought no lie. Now Spiderverse... ok. If the Sinister 6 were intergalactic planetary, planetary, intergalactic, then the multiverse could be the reason why. Still being optimistic here, after all, when the new deal was struck, strange 2 was my first guess of what MCU movie would have Spidey, and strange on Spidey 3. So what I’m saying is, it’s not like I didn’t see this coming. I’m not some good guesser, I’m just like y’all, keeping up. The only curveball was elektro. I even expected mentor Strange, who didn’t. So I’m optimistically optimistic.

2 - she's from another dimension, the utopian parallel, and can travel through the multiverse thanks to her powers

This might be big. I know I might be setting myself up for disappointment, but my mind immediately went to the X-Men or Fantastic Four (or even Blade, as in the article). I just can’t help myself.
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 10/20/2020, 5:05 AM
@WeaponXCII - dude they wouldn’t give a Puerto Rican a project that big. Their island is so tiny. Now a Cuban on the other hand. Our island is the biggest in the Caribbean. Yes Marvel, I’d be honored.

It´s been confirmed for quite some time that Matt Shakman is directing all of Wandavision episodes and Kari Skogland is directing all of Falcon and Winter Soldier episodes.

@GeneralZod - shoo I wish, north Mississippi ain’t on they game, closer you get to New Orleans the easier that stuff is to find. Memphis too, to a lesser extent. NO is chock full o Hondurans, lot o Cubans too, they prefer Indias over crazy Cuban women. And that’s how I’m a half and half, a hybrid. My wife and kids whip up some Cuban and Honduran food tho. I just eat it
