MCU Rumor Roundup: Wonder Man Season 2 Details, Werewolf By Night Sequel, New Thunderbolts Team, And More

In our latest MCU Rumor Roundup, we have updates on Werewolf by Night, the scrapped Wonder Man Season 2, Spider-Man's relationship with the X-Men, a new Thunderbolts team, and more.

As the Multiverse Saga nears its end, Marvel Studios is seemingly rethinking its approach to both its movies and Disney+ shows. In other words, "quality over quantity."

In our latest MCU rumour roundup, details from The Cosmic Circus touch on everything from potential Special Presentations and the future of the Thunderbolts to major developments for Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Champions.

There's also plenty of intrigue surrounding Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with new details said to shed light on Spider-Man's role, the mysterious "resistance team," some potentially memorable scenes involving The Sentry and Professor X, and more.

Elsewhere, we have possible details on a villain we didn't see in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Hulkling's MCU debut, and what Wonder Man Season 2 could have looked like...

  • A Werewolf by Night sequel is reportedly in development. Heroes for Hire and Strange Academy Special Presentations may also be in the works, and Marvel Television will continue producing content for Disney+. They're just taking the aforementioned quality-over-quantity approach now.

  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and to a larger extent, Spider-Man: No Way Home, will be crucial to the plots of both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars
  • The latter will feature a "resistance team," but not necessarily "liferafts" like those in Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars comic.
  • Looking beyond the next Avengers movies, it sounds like there are plans for Spider-Man to become "close friends" with the X-Men after his first meeting with Jean Grey.
  • Back to Brand New Day, and it sounds like Big Wheel was among the villains cut from the movie.

  • Thunderbolts* was a critical hit, but it didn't make the biggest impact at the box office. Despite that, the site claims Marvel Studios has discussed assembling a new Thunderbolts team. The lineup would include a new Taskmaster, Abomination, Songbird, and Daredevil: Born Again's Bullseye. However, it's only at the "idea" stage.
  • It sounds like Avengers: Doomsday will feature some interesting scenes with The Sentry and Professor X.

  • Plans for the MCU to have "Young Avengers" have been abandoned, but the Champions are coming. Future storylines could be cosmic in nature, as there are plans for Hulkling to "appear at some point." VisionQuest should be a key chapter in the finally assembling. America Chavez is also set to "be a hero on Earth," despite seemingly being forgotten in the next Avengers movies.

  • Marvel Studios recently pulled the plug on Wonder Man Season 2, leaving Simon Williams in limbo. Had the series continued, "He was going to be one of the prime examples the DODC would use to convince the general public about the threat 'mutants' posed to society."

Stay tuned for all the latest MCU rumours as we have them, and let us know your thoughts on these latest claims in the comments section below.

How would Taskmaster return?

@HeavyMetal4Life - he would study the 100 other CB characters who have returned and mimic their plot devices

@HeavyMetal4Life - Hopefully they really meant Ghost, as she didn't get enough screentime in the Thunderbolts* movie.

@HeavyMetal4Life - my guess is Antonia Dreykov won’t but we will be introduced to a new Taskmaster in Tony Masters who is the one from the comics…

Either he picks up the mantle or due to SW , that is one of the things that might be soft rebooted which is that he’s always been Taskmaster.

@HeavyMetal4Life - After Secret Wars we can have anu character, and new Taskmaster (Anthony Masters) too. History of new timeline will be different...

@HeavyMetal4Life - If Marvel have any sense they will realize that the O.G characters are why people keep coming back for these movies, even if it is as a cameo. If Franklin or whoever resets the MCU he would have to reset it back to before to a timeline Thanos snapped his fingers (or hasn't yet) to prevent the incursions from ever happening. Means, they never messed with the timeline by brining everyone back, Thanos never sacrificed his daughter, Spidey never met Doctor Strange, and hence Aunt May is alive, Tony never died and more importantly, Steve never went back to the past to have a life with Peggy. In order to also save his world, if he merged the F4 universe with the new one, changing the timeline slightly to bring them into the MCU, the some things would have changed. Taskmaster being born a boy for instance and black panther being alive. This will require that some of the characters ages and current situations might change. Since he is not just merging their universe but their timelines as well. But some of the core members of the secret wars saga remain with no memory of the old timeline he fixed. Hence the X-men being young, and the Avengers being whatever age they are. I'd keep Downey and Evans, Johansson, Renner, Bettany, Olsen Hemsworth and Garafalo. And let them continue being the main legendary Avengers and making vameos in this new MCU as the legendary Avengers and this seems to work well for the movies when it happens and preserved rhe sense of continuity and history the MCU people loved established.

I would love to see Tim Roth again, as his role in the She-Hulk series was too small.

Heroes For Hire should be built up to with an Iron Fist reboot and a Luke Cage reboot. Phone QT ask him if he wants to write an adult series version of Luke Cage. Build the Iron Fist reboot around that. Then Heroes For Hire.

Starnge Academy should be scrapped entirely. You don't need your own Harry Potter, you have your own Marvel. You have Marvel! Know what you have! Do a Doctor Strange softboot. Movie not show.

This is lies because what is says about Wonder Man contradicts the few things they said about s2 before it was cancelled.

I’m down for a Werewolf by Night sequel & Heroes For Hire special presentation but I’m still not sure how going for a more quality over quantity approach justifies cancelling Wonder Man , especially since that was considered one of if not the best series the MCU has done so far (#SaveWonderMan).

Also i like the idea of Abomination & Bullseye being part of a new iteration of the Thunderbolts and it also makes sense to include Songbird in that (if she’s indeed Mel from the last film) since she could develop or acquire powers in that film or even a project before that but we’ll see.

Oh and i can completely see Big Wheel in the BND montage we got & wish he was actually in that since it would have been perfect imo but oh well!!.

Considering Hailee Steinfeld is currently 30 and nothing is in development for her, yeah, I’d say a Young Avengers is off the table.

"Thunderbolts" could be worked into a GREAT series on D+.
Each season could have a new group of characters. Or, they could start with a group that actually want to be accepted as "heroes" and we could watch them either get their redemption or meet their end.
Something like that could actually get past one season too.
Maybe we don't know who a new Taskmaster is? Maybe we watch Bullseye try for redemption but ultimately fail and turn back to the dark side.
They could even bring in villains from other movies?
Idk, a THUNDERBOLTS series sounds a lot more fun amd interesting than another movie.

I never liked what they did with Wonderman anyway so not really a big loss for me. Heroes for Hire and a Werewolf by Night sequel would be amazing though. Thunderbolts was very average with the Red Guardian stupid humour ruining every scene he was in. Get rid of him and introduce Norman and now we are talking.

As big as a comic book fan as I am, I'm an even bigger horror movie fan. So I would love another Werewolf by Night special. In fact, I'd like it if they made that a semi-annual thing. Maybe every other Halloween or so.

My Honduran aunts would say “no inventes!” literally meaning don’t invent, but better translated as, don’t be plotting stuff, don’t be concocting schemes. Don’t be making more movies and shows. Nobody wants to see, do better. No, they don’t care about Marvel at all.

@DocSpock - you’re lucky man, both of my grandfathers died while my parents were little and so they barely had dad and I never had grandfathers. However, I went to Cuba when I was 20, and I did meet my dad’s stepdad, what a character! That’s the only time I’ve ever met him but, to me, that’s the only grandpa I ever had, and he was cool. Albeit a full-blown communist ha ha “Camilo Cienfuegos marcho por aquí mismo en mi patio, pa que lo sepas!” 😂😂😂 (translation, some old communist dude that was with Fidel and Che marched through his yard, the dude actually died in a helicopter crash that people think with orchestrated by Fidel

@TheWalkingCuban -

My Great Grandparents were on the other side of the Cuban equation. In the 50s they realized where things were going and bugged out to the USA. They were staunch anti-communist anti Castro conservatives who lived until the early 70s. I loved and had great respect for them.

TheWalkingCuban - 8/14/2026, 5:18 AM
@DocSpock - my grandma too, she left my step grandpa right where he wanted to be lol, she’s here in the New Orleans area, 95 years old. Of course she couldn’t come decades ago, well it was decades ago now lol, but it was around a year 2000. My dad was the first one to come here, by himself,in the Mariel boatlift. And yes, he did get stabbed and shot and go to jail. He was a Scarface, but in Mississippi and New Orleans. Then in 94, came my uncle’s, brother, and one cousin. Since then, my sister is here, and all of my cousins, and my two aunts, one has passed, just like my dad. Right after my dad died, well a year later, my last uncle made it to the United States. He never got to see my dad. Well, that’s life, and that’s death. He took too long to get over here, mainly because my grandma was saying no, he’s just gonna come over here and waste his life. Nope. He’s a hard-working ass dude.
