We've been hearing about a possible sequel to Tim Burton's classic horror comedy, Beetlejuice, for a very long time, and we finally got word that the project had officially entered development towards the end of 2022.
Updates have been few and far between since, but we now have an intriguing new casting rumor to share.
Several sources have indicated that Sadie Sink (Stranger Things, The Whale) has joined the cast. We don't have any details on which character she'd play, but it's expected to be one of the lead roles.
No word on whether Burton will return to direct, but both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are set to reprise their respective roles as the titular "bio exorcist" and Lydia Deetz. Alec Baldwin is currently mired in legal troubles after the tragic shooting on the set of Rust, but we may also see Gena Davis back as Barbara Maitland.
Rememory and Marvel's Runaways scribe Mike Vukadinovich was hired to pen a new draft of the script back in 2017, but it sounds like the studio will be starting from scratch with a brand-new story. As far as we know, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are still on board as producers.
As cool as it would be to get the whole gang back together for another Beetlejuice movie, some feel too much time has passed and they should let this particular ghost with the most rest in peace. What do you guys think? Drop us a comment down below.
Sink was recently rumored to have been cast as Songbird in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, and scooper Daniel Richtman now claims to have confirmed that she will indeed feature in an upcoming MCU project - but not necessarily Thunderbolts.
