Samuel L. Jackson Challenges Quentin Tarantino Over Comments About Marvel Actors Not Being Movie Stars

Long-time Quentin Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the MCU, has challenged the iconic director over his recent comments about Marvel actors not being movie stars...

Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino recently ignited debate online when he once again blasted what he described as the "Marvel-ization of Hollywood," explaining why he doesn't consider Marvel actors to be movie stars in the process.

While some agreed with the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood director, others (including Shang-Chi star Simu Liu) had a very different take, and another actor who Tarantino knows very well has now weighed in.

Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the MCU, has worked with Tarantino numerous times and the two are said to be good friends, but Jackson definitely doesn't share his frequent collaborator's views when it comes to what constitutes a "movie star."

“It takes an actor to be those particular characters, and the sign of movie stardom has always been, what, asses in seats? What are we talking about?” Jackson said when asked if he had a response to Tarantino during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “That’s not a big controversy for me to know that apparently these actors are movie stars. Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t refute that, and he’s a movie star.”

While it's hard to argue with Jackson's take, some do seem to have misconstrued Tarantino's comments to an extent. At the end of the day, the heroes/villains in major comic book movies have become bigger than the actor playing them - at least in the sense that they are now the real draw for moviegoers.

What do you guys make of Tarantino's comments and Jackson's response? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.
