Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY Enlists THE PEOPLE v. O.J. SIMPSON Star Courtney B. Vance

Fresh off a well-received turn in The People v. O.J. Simpson, Courtney B. Vance has signed on for a role in Universal's The Mummy alongside Tom Cruise. The film hits theaters June 2017.

Universal Pictures' burgeoning Monster Movie Universe is shaping up quite nicely. Deadline is reporting that Courtney B. Vance has just joined the cast of The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise in the lead role. Vance will portray an Army colonel.

Vance joins a cast led by Cruise and also features Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as the titular villain, Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), and Jake Johnson (Jurassic World). Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us) is directing with a script from Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange).

In addition to his critically acclaimed role as Johnnie Cochran on The People v. O.J. Simpson, Vance's television credits include The Spectacular Spider-Man, FlashForward, The Closer, Revenge, Graceland, State Of Affairs, Masters Of Sex, and Scandal. He also most recently starred in Final Destination 5 and Terminator: Genisys. He can be seen next in Office Christmas Party

He was pretty amazing as Cochran. Yeah, that whole series was great, I don't know how accurate it was, but it was very well written, acted and directed.

He should be good in the Mummy.
