OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Producer
Eric McLeod and exec producer
David Venghaus join the high ranks of
DevaShard, the fantasy-based property recently picked up by Vanquish Motion Pictures.
McLeod and Venghaus, who worked together on the
Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, then exec producer and first assistant director respectively, will come together again for another epic tale, this one derived from eastern myth.
Vanquish's
Jay Douglas and Nav Gupta will produce alongside McLeod and are scripting with writing partner
Heather Kenealy, from a treatment by
Underworld co-creator
Kevin Grevioux, who's also serving as EP with Venghaus.
The story, hailing from Hong Kong's Fluid Comics, chronicles two rival young warriors, one a cursed demon, the other blessed with divinity, whose intertwined fates lead them to the eve of a grand war. The first two books of the series were unveiled at San Diego's Comic Con and will hit U.S. shops in December.
McLeod is currently producing Tony Scott's
Unstoppable, Bioshock for Universal and exec producing
Prince of Persia for
Jerry Bruckheimer, while Venghaus just wrapped A.D. duties on
Robert Zemeckis' A Christmas Carol.
