COSPLAY: Callie As MYSTIQUE

This latest batch of snaps see Callie pose as the classic comic book version of Raven Darkholme/Mystique, and also pay a little homage to her more cloths-phobic movie counterpart! So take a look after the jump, bearing in mind some pics might be a bit on the NSFW side.

That is a damn good Mystique cosplay!

God, would it have been so hard to make her look like this in the films? You take Rebecca Stamos and Jennifer Lawrence, two beautiful women, and cover them in shitty blue rubber and slick their hair back. It's a crime i tell you.

@Nomis agreed. It's a damn shame.

Love this Mystique, and I agree 100% on "why the Fcck can't FOX do this".

So..you guys would rather see the character in cloths, than naked with only a few bits covered with rubber? Hmm..

Nah seriously though, I wasn't sure whey they did it (aside from the obvious reason) in the first X-men but I like that with First Class they made it a part of her character after the whole "have you ever seen a tiger and wanted to cover it up" convo with Magneto.

Heeeeey original Mystique!
That's really incredible.

I assumed it'd be the one from the films, I actually like this version a lot better.

Incredible job, Callie!
You look amazing.

Never got why in the X-Men films Mystique always had slicked back hair ala Pat Riley, her Ultimate look would look awesome on screen :]

"We just want to see the characters we love from the comics be adapted to the silver screen, properly."

You actually mean you want them to LOOK just like they do in the comics. So if (and it's arguable I know) removing her cloths gives her actual character more depth, that's not ok cos she wears a white dress in the comics and not in the movie?

Would of been far sexier and natural if the nipple hadn't been airbrushed out.

Prudes.

That's how Mystique should look in live action...just like the comics.
I could see not using the white/skulls outfit in films but the current blue scales & shirt greasy hair look is garbage.
Rebecca & Jennifer are super hot but the movie make up ruins the hotness.

Course you can but it's all part of the adaptation process. Comic as are comic sand movies are movies and that's just the way it is. Shortcuts have to be taken, characters have to be altered (sometimes I admit, unnecessarily) and if they decided that taking away Mystique's clothing was a quick way to show that she's shed her "slave persona" as it were, then so be it. As long as they don't completely alter the character to where the essence of what makes them who they are changes..I've no problem with it. The comics are still on my shelf..this is just another interpretation of them.

Guys, the film version of Mystique isn't supposed to look hot when she's in her natural blue form..kinda the point?

Ror? "Isn't supposed to look hot" whatttt????

That's not the contract I signed up FOX with. Now both Mystique's do have A sex appeal, but not THE sex appeal the I agreed to.

White nightie, white satin gloves and skulls for a belt ooozzzzeeee sex, and I'm calling FOX on that stat!

Fcck "organic".

One of the better Cosplays I've seen. She's not just whoring it up, she's actually showing a lil' creativity.

How have they taken her so far from the source material? Mystique is a blue shape shifting Mutant who started out as a baddie - that's all she was in the first X-Men! Obviously there's more to her in the comics but they didn't give her any backstory or depth in the first movie because they were dealing with so many other characters. It wasn't until First Class that they decided to flesh her out..and they made up her early life being Xavier's friend sure (although they did team up in the comics in later life), but it worked brilliantly for the movie because we got to see how she eventually winds up with Magneto. If you're talking about her being Nightcrawler's mother and Rogue's adoptive mother..well she still might be! Ok the Rogue thing is unlikely since both characters met as adults, but with this time jumping reboot that's bound to occur in DOFP, who knows what could happen. Either way, that's not a defining trait of the character!

No Fap November?! i did not agree to any such thing!

anyway, in this case i would have to agree with RorMachine, the look they gave her in the movies is great and did not make her less of the "mystique" character from the comics..

that being said.. @Ror, what is your position on the wolverine wifebeater/topless debacle?
Solphins
Solphins - 11/4/2013, 4:46 PM
It is all because they Hollywood everything up. Mystique can't look like a blue skinned person, she has to be more complicated and give her scales and designs on her skin. We also can't put Wolverine in he costume because it's too complicated, we need to put him in a wife beater.
