This is a full Japanese production directed by Shinji Higuchi, who is not a stranger to anime from his work on Evangelion

Actor Haruma Miura will take on the lead role of Eren.

One of the shooting locations for the project is the abandoned ghost town island commonly known as Gukanjima, which gained fame for being used as a villain lair in the James Bond film Skyfall. The island was originally the site of a coal mine and company town, and was suddenly closed in the 1970s, families relocated to mainland Japan so fast that the island’s dwellings became a ghost town almost instantaneously. It's the perfect setting for this flick!

The Movie will take on some new ideas and stories that will be different from the source material as fans will recognize (oh no!) however this is all being supervised under the Manga's creator Hayime Isayama. Lets see who will pick up the U.S. distribution rights for this flick.

The story of Attack on Titan takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world's population to staggeringly low numbers. The 3 main protagonists of Isayama's manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a "Colossal Titan" breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to thee death of Eren's mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.

This is kinda good and bad. Pretty sure they are going to deliver the emotion and a good story, but the CGI is going to look like crap.

I rather a American/Japanese collab on this sorta thing. The potential is huge for a AoT movie.

Not sure how I feel about seeing Attack On Titan as a live action movie. Eren Jaeger is a white Germanic kid not Japanese. This could either be really good or really terrible.

I'd rather have the Americans work on it. I've seen Japanese stuff.... it ain't good unless its animated. Plus, we don't have to read subtitles or hear one thing come out of their mouths but see another thing come out.

I was just going to say that. Effects in Japanese movies suck. They should get an American studio to do the effects for this movie. Plus most of the cast should be White/European. Its a plot point in the anime and manga that Mikasa Ackerman is the only character of Asian decent.

@TheCaptain

Well, I can imagine that's going to be one of the points where they diverge from the source material, so it does take place in Japan.

I don't have a lot of faith with this.. anime just generally doesn't translate well to live action, they couldn't pull off Death Note and that was all about the drama.

Plus the SNK anime is super gory. This won't be. :P

@batcheek
Yeah overall anime doesn't translate well to live action so my expectations are pretty low

Japanese movies are trash, this will be trash. Also, Mikasa is he only Japanese character in the series & she's only half Japanese.

Never understood the appeal and craze around this manga/anime. The manga is kinda boring and predictable, and when there are surprises they don't make sense.

The premise was good, the execution was sucky.

Wth are you on they even say in the anime Mikasa is the only Asian person. Hell they made that a plot point why she almost gets kidnapped by human traffickers! Plus most of the characters have white names (Annie, Connies, Sasha, etc.) Just keep trying to paint me as a racist you delusional twat

"Why do all Japanese Anime characters need to be caucasian?" I never [frick]ing said this, I was specifically talking about Attack on Titan. Work on your reading comprehension skills then get back to me.
