DC Does Not Need A Reboot, Marvel Does!

My disappointment that DC has decided to reboot again. Why doesn't Marvel get a reboot instead?

With the news coming out saying that the DC universe is going to be rebooted, I felt that it was nothing more than a slap in the face and thought “not again”. I mean seriously, DC has been rebooted from the Infinite Crisis and the Final Crisis. It has been only two since the Final Crisis had ended and now with Flashpoint, DC is getting rebooted? What the hell?! How many reboots do we need?! I am sick of DC being rebooted! If any universe that needs to be rebooted, it’s the Marvel universe.

Since 2007, Marvel has fallen from grace after the Civil War Arc with terrible moves like the death of Captain America and the erasing of Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-man and Mary Jane Watson’s marriage. I have to note that I’m referring to the mainstream universe and not the ultimate marvel universe. I mean Johnny Storm’s dead? The Fantastic Four disbanded and formed into Future Foundation with ridiculous costumes? Cyclops more a total dick than a leader like he is suppose to be.

Another reason DC does not need a reboot is because basically we had too many damn reboots. Everytime a big event occurs in DC, the universe always get reboot. I mean it is staring to get annoying. Another thing that pissed me off about the reboot is the change in Superman’s costume. I mean seriously, why did they have to mess with the costume? Superman’s new costume is basically screaming trying to be modern. Why hasn’t Marvel gotten a reboot? They are the ones that need start over from page 1. I don’t think I can say that I support DC in what they are doing. As a long time fan who stuck around despite all the haters, I have to say that I am disappointed in Lee and Johns.

Looks like we're sort of on the same page, although I think you were a little hash on Marvel. The Death of Captain America was actually a very well done story. The Return where they f@%&ed up. Way too soon and with a stupid story.

@BIGBMH I know but Marvel does need a reboot more than DC does.

i really dont think either should "reboot". thats just a lame ass excuse to change everything we love about the characters

This is why I miss the Bronze Age and Silver Age. The stories were tight and kept the readers interested. I think what's happening now is a genuine lack of talent. The art is fine but it's the writing that's lacking. The Silver and Bronze Ages had excellent writers who were on the cutting edge bringing us stories that not only were entertaining but thought provoking...profound. A lot of this tripe their shoving at the public is sub-par at best and downright insulting at its worst.

I don't particularly agree with you on your opinion on the matter at hand.

Marvel needing a reboot? Not certainly the whole universe but some parts. DC's reboot is so not necessary. Didn't they reboot 2008?

I don't think either should reboot, but you are right about DC. It was kind of a joke among comic fans that every time DC's continuity got too convoluted, they would just do another Crisis story.

What I find even funnier is the fact that DC did away with the Multiverse, and the whole reason was that it made the DC Universe too convloluted. Then they turn around and reintroduce the Multiverse in 52. Now what were they expecting?

Anyway, I think rebooting their entire universe is just an admission that they're comics are not as good as they could be. DC has some great characters, but they always seem to fall a little short.

neither company needs rebooting,i think both companies need to sort out some of their characters.

-stop over using characters like wolverine, deadpool & batman for example.

-stop rewriting characters for the worse i.e spidey/mary jane storyline

-killing characters just to sell more comics.

are much bigger problems.

@ arminies

come on now, I guarantee I can name tons of DC comics that you would like, because they're good, quality comics by good quality writers and artists.

just like Marvel, DC does some good things and some bad. no offense, but its ignorant to think that there is nothing at all DC has to offer you.

DC don't really need a reboot, they just need to clear some stuff up. They reboot like every 5 years or so, almost always involving the words 'Crisis' and usually some derivative of 'Infinite'...
But Marvel don't need a reboot, they tried that on Spidey with Brand New Day and look how that turned out. And you could kind of class Ultimate comics as a reboot, since it redid all the origins of the characters in a new way, and that's going downhill as well.

Ok here we go......I hope everyone is prepared for when MOS comes out in 2012 and Supes doesnt have his pants on. Here is my conspiracy theory.....ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE OF THE LAWSUIT THAT WB IS IN WITH SHUSTER AND SEIGEL. IF THEY GOTTA CHANGE SUPERMAN THEN WHY NOT JUST CHANGE EM ALL??? THERES MY THEORY. its BS. i hope this only lasts a year and doesnt effect the MOS movie coming out...but i have a feeling that it will and then we will see how many people disapprove of the uniform that BRANDON ROUTH put on. I would much rather see the RETURNS suit again than a auit that has a COLLAR and no UNDIES....

DC had to do something people aren't buying comics like they used to now if it's not a movie or game no one wants it so they are trying to get people to start buying but I do not think a reboot is the answer and as for changing the costumes you people need to get over it things change so unless you and still walking around in parachute pants and like it get over it.
