THE UNDEFENDED
The Scoop
"Blood: The Last Vampire" director Chris Nahon is set to direct his next action/thriller "The Undefended." As a fan of Chris Nahon's dark and gritty stylized directing, I contacted my sources in Hollywood to find out more on the film. I got a hold of the script and learned Chris Nahon is currently meeting with some big action stars and is slated to shoot the film next summer in Berlin.
The film is set just after 9/11 and tells the story of an ex-British UN soldier who served in the Bosnian War and is haunted by the memory of a horrific execution he witnessed under the hands of a war criminal named 'Marko', which will be played by actor Sebastian Koch (The Lives of Others). Years later, he seizes an opportunity to go back into Sarajevo to hunt down the wealthy war criminal who now runs the not so shiniest part of the city. The script brings to the page the signature dark shadows and lighting of Chris Nahon's other films "Kiss of the Dragon" and "L'empire des Loups" while bringing back the video game like manhunt mission style as seen in Pierre Morel's "Taken." However in the midst of the manhunt, the protagonist unexpectedly falls for a beautiful girl who stands in the way of his mission.
Chris Nahon came to the scene as Luc Besson's protege and has been known to be particular about the projects he signs on to do. I'm looking forward to this one and Chris Nahon fans should not be disappointed. The film is being produced by Gia Muresan, Andrea Chung and Paul Largan for France Televisions Distribution, Bowery Hills Entertainment and the Irish Film Board.
