The summer of 2014 has seen films flourish oversees but, stateside, numbers are down from last year.

Still, it’s been a terrific summer for 20th Century Fox. Led by blockbusters like X-Men: Days of Future Past and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Fox has now become the first studio this year to reach $1 billion domestically.

Other releases include Rio 2 and The Other Woman in the spring. But the biggest surprise this summer has to be June's The Fault in Our Stars, produced for $12M and grossing nearly $120M to date.

Fox can also include the $152M from How to Train Your Dragon 2 thanks to a distribution pact with DreamWorks Animation. Fox will end its summer next month with the release of the R-rated comedy Let's Be Cops.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opened to a stellar $73M this weekend while X-Men: Days of Future Past is approaching $230M domestically.

What do you think of the films Fox has released this year?

The headline was a bit confusing as I immediately rattled off all the not-fox billion dollar movies-

Then I realized I had a few lunch beers already and wasn't paying attention

Might want to add "2014" to the title and article. It's a little misleading..

Nicely written though

Holy shit, Clem- CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm happy to hear that, man, really.

Every time my girlfriend mentions children I fear for the world. It's not her.. she's great, and I love her to death..

It's me. I am terrified at the thought of unleashing my spawn on the world. But, yeah.. good to see ya, man. Best wishes, bud.

:D

If I'm ever foolish enough to delude myself into believing I'd make a good father.. I hope it's a girl. I don't want some little dude moving in on my territory.

Omg congrats Clem!!! That's really great!!

*don't read that Clem, kids are great, your life will be awesome*
It's ok ciph, everyone is afraid of having children... Women are usually not afraid though. Well I know I am :P Just the thought that I may have a living person inside my stomach someday creeps me out!!! But they say that when the child comes you are happy and you forget everything... But you know what I think?? Responsibilities!!!! I hate those... Maybe I'll change my mind when I'll be 30 or something but that's my opinion for now :P
