Moviefone reports that Shadix died after a bad fall in his own home in Alabama. His sister, Susan Gagne admitted that he had mobility issues and had likley fallen out of his wheelchair and "hit his head in the kitchen."

In addition to Beetlejuice, Shadix collaberated with Tim Burton on Nightmare Before Christmas (as the Mayor) as well as Planet of the Apes (as Senator Nado). Before he retired from Hollywood around five years ago, he was famous for voicework as well.

The only other movie I remember him from is "Demolition Man". 58 is awful young. That is what an unhealthy lifestyle gets you.

Hey TABS

Was he the guy that read the news? "Real Roman Bread... for Real Romans" HAhaHAH he always closed with that.

Also had a bit role in season one of Carnivale. But Brother Justin choked him out ;)

Yes he will be missed. His part in "Sleepwalkers" was classic. His Tim Burton work will always be cherished by us fans. Hate to hear it. We've lost quite a few actors/actresses, scribes and directors this year. Let's give his family our warmest condolences.

Guys, I loved Rome, but you are talking about the wrong fat guy, no disrespect...this guy was in BeetleJuice and a lot of tv and voice work...Ian McNeice played the newsreader and appeared in Ace Ventura When Nature Calls

My bad Mr Green.

Yeah they are completely different now that I think about it. He did have a role in Carnivale though, that much I can say with certainty.
