GRAVITY's Alfonso Cuarón In Talks To Direct THE SHINING Prequel?

The Shining is one of Stephen King's earliest works, and is still considered one of his greatest. Stanley Kubrick's adaptation was critically acclaimed, and it appears that Alfonso Cuarón may direct the planned prequel "The Overlook Hotel." /film said a year ago that Glen Mazzara is writing the screenplay, but it is unknown if he has been replaced or it really is her script that Cuarón may direct. According to the SCHMOES KNOW's scoop, Cuarón is the top choice for the role, and it would be his if he wants it. It was also rumored a while ago that he would also direct Warner Bros.'s Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, so it is quite possible that he would be directing The Overlook Hotel after he's finished with Fantastic Beasts. Although we are not sure of the exact plot, you can speculate simply based on the title. What do you think of the idea of a spin-off to The Shining? Sound off below!

"/film said a year ago that Glen Mazzara is writing the screenplay, but it is unknown if she has been replaced"
-- Mazzara's a man.

I'm not sure how necessary a prequel would be, to be honest.

AxeEffect, Stephen King already wrote a sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep.

- On highways across America, a tribe of people called the True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and spunky twelve-year-old Abra Stone learns, the True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the steam that children with the shining produce when they are slowly tortured to death.

- Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel, where he spent one horrific childhood year, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father’s legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant shining power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes “Doctor Sleep.”

- Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of devoted readers of The Shining and satisfy anyone new to this icon in the King canon.

THIS IS WHAT THEY SHOULD BE ADAPTING ^ . I actually even started to read the novel and it's awesome! NOT THIS BULLSHIT PREQUEL IDEA THEY HAVE!
