MARVEL's THE INHUMANS Coming To ABC Next Fall; First Two Episodes Will Premiere In IMAX Theaters

It looks like we can finally forget about that Inhumans movie as Marvel has announced that a TV series featuring the characters is coming to ABC in 2017. However, it will also have a big screen debut!

Well, I think it's fair to say that none of us saw this coming! There have been rumblings for a while now that the divide between Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Studios had resulted in The Inhumans being shelved, and it now appears as if those reports were indeed accurate as the project is instead moving forward at Marvel Television in what looks set to be a very unique way of launching a TV series.

Set to premiere on ABC next Fall, the first two episodes will be shot entirely with IMAX digital cameras for a two week run in IMAX theaters worldwide at the beginning of September. The network will then premiere the weekly series later in the Fall with exclusive extra content which can only be seen there.

Now, many of you are probably thinking that the show will revolve around the not that exciting Inhumans we've seen in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., right? Well, think again, as the press release confirms that, "Marvel’s The Inhumans" will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family." This obviously makes it clear that we won't be seeing them as part of Phase 4.

Considering the fact that the Marvel movies have largely ignored what happens on ABC and Netflix, chances are this limited IMAX run is the only time we'll see the Inhumans on the big screen.

Disappointed, or do you think a TV show is right best option for these heroes? Sound off below.

In before the storm of people raging about Inhumans being "downgraded" to TV.

@Potato - I don't mind it being a TV series, Im just worried about the budget. I thought the inhumans Royal family would have been a good film. But i worry with the tv budget. It not like Daredevil or Jessica jones were they can film on location in NY, they will have to create Attilan from scratch. Then aspects like medusas hair, that will require complex cgi, even big budget films struggle to capture realistic cgi hair on normal models, but hers will be doing intrect stuff.

@Potato - Well its kinda true, and I really like all of the superhero shows, CW, ABC, Netflix, etc. Obviously some are much higher quality than others, especially the Netflix ones being IMO better than most CBM movies. But still, I wanted a big budget Inhumans

@Potato - I don't mind it being on tv. I'm not jazzed about it being on ABC... i think it should be on premium cable.

@StormXmen123 - Computers get cheaper every single day, and a hell of a lot can be done with a green screen. Graphics programs are being tweaked constantly, especially in the 3D rendering monster machines used for Hollywood - movies OR television.

Look at what the SciFi Channel did with Dune and Dune Messiah/Children of Dune.

Look at what HBO did with Game of Thrones.

An Inhumans television series is a GREAT announcement.
