I was excited for the Marvel films like Thor and Captain America, but as it seems, every marvel flick I have ever spent money on to go see was always a water-quick disappointment instead of what I wanted to sit through in the first place. I never felt that with Nolan's Batman films or Constantine...but those are about the only CBM's that have not sped through my eyes like a buzz of light. Those films took time and had a considerable amount of meaning, and work put into them.
I never had the pleasure of seeing Constantine in theaters but I remember watching it for the first time at my home and thinking WOW! I just sat through a film that did not completely waste my time. I was able to sit and enjoy it, cause it seems that when I went to see ones like Spidey and Punisher, I was out of the theater just as soon as I went in. Seeing the Batman movies, I felt like I was in that damn theater forever! but honestly, If I sat through something that long, and enjoyed every minute of both films(which I did.)I figured that that was what I want to spend my time and money on, not some half-assed CBM that just wants to gain some quick money.
Constantine did the same for my expectations when I sat through it at home. It is a pretty long movie! It also never stopped entertaining me. To me, Marvel has failed miserably, and DC is trying extremely hard not to. Marvel is just now getting out of a dark hole that they fell into years ago with some of their not so great films. I know I did not make the movies, but I felt I should not have spent money on them, hoping for something that was not there.
I do not want to get bashed, but this is simply how I feel. I hate that I started thinking this but Marvel and the studious that got their rights just have not done that element of justice like Warner Bros. and DC has. I just cannot feel it. DC has had that more professional level of film rather than the lighthearted aspects of Marvel, which there isn't anything to wrong with that but sometimes Marvel overdoes it.
These feelings will never ruin my love for Marvel's comics or DC's, and I know for a fact that DC has had fails too. I could point out their mistakes but that would just make me a whiner and that would be losing track of the focus of this article. I will always love comics for what they mean to me, I just hope that future filmmakers will take more meaning in films they produce. That is really what would make me happy, but I cannot judge that badly. I still seek to appreciate the hard work put into any film rather it gets hashed or it is loved.
Nevertheless, I will be waiting for The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises and I will not knock anything before I try them. I would still see Thor, C. America, and Green Lantern, and even First Class, but my main hopes lie with the anticipation of next years big moneymakers for both Marvel and DC...but lets hope that the filmmakers do not see them as that!
I hope you enjoyed this article and I say to you all...
Good Day Peeps!! =P
