The Honorable Mention.

The Batman.

So, what can I say? It was a good show. The villains were unique, it was dark, like Batman should be. I didn't like Clayface's origin, or Man- Bat's, but they were presented pretty well. I think Batgirl came in too early, and Robin should have come first, or at least sooner than he did. But the technology was very interesting, like the Batmobile. But Bane was a jab to the heart. He was Ugly!

Number 5:

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes!

Sure, it had it's flaws, like any other show, such as, the animation was weird also, or some of the adventures were too crazy for me, like the episodes with the Puppet Master. I know he is in the comics, but the portrayal was wrong. But I think it did a very good job in explaining the characters.

Number 4:

Ultimate Spider-man.

This show has a good presentation of Spidey. But there are flaws also. 1. Spider-man's team of friends is kinda lame, I mean, they all have good character, but just the idea is kinda lame. 2. Thor is always tiny! I mean, if Iron Man Cap, or Hulk are helping Spidey, They are awesome. But Thor, the God of Thunder, is either a Frog or a Baby. But, the animation is very good, the jokes are humorous, most of the villains are presented awesomely, but not Doc Ock. So it's a good show, with flaws like any other show.

Number 3:

Justice League: The Animated Series.

I didn't care for Unlimited, as I feel that they had too many characters. But this show had a very good presentation of all the characters, with a lot of good jokes from Flash and action sequences with Everyone. I really enjoyed Martian Manhunter and I hope he is in the Justice League movie. I didn't care for Hawkgirl, They did her good, but she shouldn't have been in the show. Maybe Unlimited, but I didn't care for her.

Number 2.

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

So yeah, It was a good show. I think it had a little bit too many characters, but they were all humourous, and all showed off their powers very well. The villains were mostly good. The Enchantress and Surtur thing would have been very interesting, but it didn't really go anywhere. But I still enjoyed the show very much and have high hopes for Avengers Assemble.

And the Number 1 is...

Batman: The Animated Series.

This is hereby the best portrayal of Batman ever. The character himself was mindblowing, the action was good, even for '92! practically all the villains had good character, even all the side characters. I really don't know of any major flaws, but if you guys do, I'd be happy to hear them!

I thought about having Superman: TAS in the list. Spectacular was close too. I didn't know that there was a Spawn tv show.

Batman episodes were brilliant. The 2 part episodes of Two Face was excellent. The Robin's Reckoning episode was so great with the right amount of drama and tensions on Robins beginning and family death. After the art style changed I began to not like the show as much. But yeah. Batman TAS is not overated by a long shot. Still has some of the best stories and better voice acting for a show a show that was created 20 years ago.

Spawn had an tv show that wass on HBO back in the day. That show could only be aired on that kind of network. Enjoyed every bit of that show and loved Keith David.

Am I the only guy who thought Green Lantern: The Animated Series was awesome... the story arcs, character development and pacing were all on point...

My only gripe is that the CGI made it all look a little more 'kiddy' than it actually was.

5)The new Thundercats, if given room to grow, could have been phenomenal. It was the perfect combo of sci-gi and fantasy.
4) The DCU collection from B:TAS-Superman-JLU was great, largely due to continuity all the way to Batman Beyond
3)The New Jonny Quest was always a thrill thanks to settling itself in as a kind of cartoon Monste Quest.
2) The Fox station MCU of the 90's with Spider-Man and X-Men. It treated the comics, and the fans, with a lot of respect.
1) nothing was better than Gargoyles. Bring Shakespeare into the lore was amazing.

Sure, He-Man and other 80's era cartoons have their fans but the stories told in these 5 can't be beat.

Honorable mention to...
X-Men Evolution
Wolverine and the X-Men

ThunderKat
ThunderKat - 6/11/2013, 10:58 PM
"Ultimate Spider-Man" is terrible: from the video game sideshow, to the Anime baby version of him, to the de-aging of Power Man and Iron Fist.

"Spectacular Spider-Man" was interesting and had good storytelling.

"JL" and "JL Unlimited" are great. Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl were not only made interesting, but relevant. The Flash was three dimensional.

I love Marvel, but it still has its work cut out for itself.

2. Avengers: EMH
3. Young Justice
4. Spectacular Spider-Man

That order probably changes depending on how I'm feeling that day lol. So hard to decided!
Yeah, B:TAS is overrated, but that doesn't mean it is BAD, just a smidge over hyped.

RobGrizzly
RobGrizzly - 6/13/2013, 8:57 PM
Man, The Batman and Ultimate Spider-Man, both shows just missed the mark in terrible ways. But BTAS at #1 is basically, the 'right' answer here. I can't say I'm a big fan of many recent cartoons. With such a comic book revolution going on, you'd think not all the stuff we're getting had to be so...light

5. Spawn (HBO)
The most hardcore superhero toon ever produced. Ahead of its time.

4. The Maxx (MTV)
Totally F'ed up and dark. Aired with Aeon Flux on 'Liquid TV'

3. Spider-Man (FOX)
Incredible story arcs unlike anything cartoons were doing.

2. X-Men (FOX)
Still the best iteration of X-Men outside the comics.

1. Batman: The Animated Series (WB)
Mature and still unmatched. Basically 'birthed' the DCAU

Honorable Mentions go to:

-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003).
Started awesome, but got crappy in its last seasons with fast forward and back to the sewers.

-Wolverine & the X-Men/ X-Men Evolution.
Two X-men shows that did great with exploring the mutants, but had storytelling flaws that kept them from being truly excellent.

-Spectacular Spider-Man.
Such great characterization, but the animation was effing terrible. And I hated the theme song.
