Leading the pack is Tom Hardy, who despite already garnering rave reviews for his performance in Bronson, really only made an impression on the movie going majority playing the roguish Eames in Chris Nolan's Inception. He will soon of course rejoin Nolan for a still unrevealed role in Dark Knight Rises.
Next is Emma Stone. Forcing both critics and fans alike to sit up and take notice with a great performance in
Easy A, Stone will make her mark on the CBM world playing Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb's
Spider-Man reboot.
Then there is Aaron Johnson who already made his mark playing the title role in Matthew Vaughan's
Kick Ass.
Gemma Arterton is next. She has made an impression in quite a few movies now but really turned heads with her turn as
Tamara Drewe in the Stephen Frears film of the same name(yes, it's a CBM!).
Finally we have our new
Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield who has made big waves with his work in
The Social Network and
Never Let Me Go.
It's great to see such talented actors sign on to a CBM, and these awards will only heighten their(and thus the movies they are involved with) profiles. The winner will be voted for by the public and announced at this year's BAFTAs, held on February 13th.
