AMC's Preacher, starring Dominic Cooper, Jackie Earle Haley, Joseph Gilgun and Ruth Negga will premire on May 22, following the  mid-season finale of Fear The Walking Dead.  The pilot is currently being screened at SXSW today, where the announcement was made.  The show will air at 10PM that Sunday and will then be shown back-to-back, on the 29th, starting at 9PM.  After the 29th, new episodes will air during the show's regular time slot, Sundays at 9PM.

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). The series is set to premiere mid-2016.

@Kman - it's not a stretch saying that The Walking Dead isn't a very good adaptation. I liken them to the X-Men movies. I still like the show, but they don't get the characters.

@chriskrispy - they purposely deviate now though... either this sunday or next im hearing we'll get a pretty accurate appearance by Negan. But the show is pretty dam good TV regardless of its comic accuracy

I can't wait, TWD doesn't work for me anymore. First 3 seasons from AMC's shows are always good.

Not sure why everybody is down on Walking Dead... The tension is building ferociously right now. But regardless, this looks super badass. I like Dominic Cooper and liked his demeanor in the trailer. Can't wait for this!
