The comic book project, based on Greg Rucka's Oni Press comic, centers on a female Special Ops agent who is on the run after carrying out a high-level assassination in Eastern Europe. Those familiar with the project have described it as a female version of "The Bourne Identity."
John Moore had penned a draft of Queen & Country which Jenno Topping is producing and Peter Kang is overseeing it for Fox.
Rucka is a comics author who has penned stories for a range of DC and Marvel properties. He's known for writing strong female characters including Wonder Woman and Batwoman, and "Country" is seen as a vehicle for a strong female lead. Nicole Kidman at one point was attached to the project a while back.
Ryan Condal is an emerging talent whose "Galahad," a retelling of the King Arthur legend, landed in the top 15 on last year's Black List.
The writer, repped by ICM and Energy Entertainment, also has been brought on to write "Hercules," the Universal and Spyglass project about the mythic hero that Pete Berg is producing as a possible directing vehicle.
LEEE777 - Well you cant get enough female comic book movies and i say yay to a Hercules movie, just a pity it wont be a Marvel production! ; )
