Former Ghostbusters director says he hasn't really turned his back completely on the GB3 project

Ivan Reitman tells MTV that he hasn't turned his back entirely on returning to the director's chair for Ghostbusters 3.

His involvement, talk of a female Ghostbuster, other new recruits, casting news and directing updates all seem to be pure speculation at this point. A script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is going to be turned in "a month or so."

I’ve never ruled [directing it] out," Reitman says. "I certainly was responsible in every capacity for the first two movies so I certainly wouldn’t wander away from the third one—especially if it’s something we all think is worth doing."

I think it's going to be a disaster. I hope the producer will hide in a bathroom and weep because this movie is going to suck... or it could actually work out and end up as another Hellboy movie except a little different. I still doubt that this fim will even make money.

At least I think my formula for sequels doesnt apply here. It has been long enough that even though this new movie will be the third in the series, I believe it's been long enough to consider it a part I. So it is exempt from the part 3 curse.

I'm not sure if this will ever get made- most of the info seems to be coming from Dan Ackroyd (who is probably eager to get it off the ground as he hasnt really been up to much of late)- I'll believe there's gonna be another a Ghostbusters when I hear word from Bill Murray..

I think with the release of the game on June 16th, it'll get people talking about the franchise again and attract a new, younger audience. Definitely would have to have Rick Moranis back though.

I wanna see them kinda go off the cartoon from a few years back, with the young group of Ghostbusters. And I would love to see them use the Grendel as the villain.

I think this movie could be a massive hit. It just has to have the right story and cast. I caught Ghostbusters II the other night for the first time in years. The script has to be waaaaayyyy better than that. They beat Viggo at the end by shooting at him IN the painting. Then he just went; "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!" And literally SPUN away into the painting. They cant do that again. Its was a classic flick though.

I don't think we can start trashing this movie, it hasn't started production...it's just an idea right now... and the idea of another ghostbusters movie is great, so I don't know what there is to complain about.
