According to Movie Pilot, Marvel recently filed trademarks for the following properties. Granted, it’s not indicated whether these are comic or movie related trademarks, but given how some of these properties have been around in the comics for a while, and are an outright odd bunch – is it worth looking into? They would certainly be interesting, and seemingly reveal some projects we certainly weren't expecting...

  • Age Of Ultron
  • Alpha Flight
  • Black Panther
  • Guardians Of The Galaxy
  • New Warriors
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Strikeforce Morituri
  • Journey Into Mystery
  • Irredeemable Ant Man

Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Guardians Of The Galaxy are expected, but Alpha Flight? Black Panther? Strikeforce Morituri? A little further digging on Movie Pilot’s part indicates that the projects all have some relevance to Marvel Studios. The upcoming Big Hero 6 is an Alpha Flight spin-off, and Strikefiorce Morituri was in development as a TV show at one point!

“And finally, the oddball of the bunch, Strikeforce Morituri. This one definitely caught me off guard and had me baffled for a while until I found this TV series information: In 2003, the Sci Fi Channel announced it was developing 1000 Days, a live-action TV movie and backdoor pilot based on Strikeforce: Morituri, in which near-future soldiers gain enhanced abilities but die 1,000 days later. Written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, it was a Reveille Productions and Marvel Studios co-production executive produced by Reveille head Ben Silverman and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad and Rick Ungar. Waterman Entertainment optioned the series, with the initial plan being to start production in December 2011.” - MoviePilot

The full article is definitely worth a read, so head over to Movie Pilot to find out more about the trademarks. Again – this could, and probably is, nothing – but it’s fun to speculate! Marvel’s next live-action property to hit the big screen is the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, which is set to hit theatres August 1st, 2014.

In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. In order to evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a group of misfits including Gamora, Rocket, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy's fate in the balance. Guardians Of The Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin. Guardians Of The Galaxy opens August 1st, 2014.

But Alpha Flight would be better in the X-Men cinematic universe.
The Runaways would be the next big thing in the CBM genre.

I like the idea of Marvel making more TEAM films.
That's a great way to intro many characters into the Cinematic Universe.
If one character really works..solo spin-off movie.

Lets tell Feige how "Ireedemable" Ant-Man is...

Good to see BP on this list. New Warriors is different wasn't expecting that one. Journey into Mystery should be a tv show. that would be awesome. Strikeforce Morituri is a really oddball choice. that is way from left field I wonder what they will do with that project.

mmmmmhhh! Maybe!

Alpha flight could work but they might fall under the X banner. If Marvel could use them, I'd use the Wolverine story origin from his 1st appearance where he was a skilled fighter with NON-retractable claws. Tyhe claws were attached to his gloves.

I'd be cool with any of these coming to film, AWESOME!

Journey Into Mystery could be a great anthology film franchise with several characters getting the movie treatment in short segments.

Maybe 3 characters each getting about 45 min. stories.
Showcase villains as well as heroes too..that would kick ass.

I'm pretty sure Marvel Studious surreptitiously own the rights to Alpha Flight and not Fox...
Didn't Agents Of Sheild name drop Department H right before the season finale? None of the Easter eggs in Marvel Studios content are done on accident, they all seed things to come in my opinion.

THOR: JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY could be THOR III's title, as AGE OF ULTRON lacks the AVENGERS name.

I don't think these are for movies. I think this is just procedural posturing for Disney to lock up their intellectual property.
