The infighting of CBM and the FANBOYS in the universe

...Rickly returns to write and take swipes at...? You'll never guess who...

Editorial Opinion

Hey folks...I would say all will be well, but that's for Geoff Johns...and not for me. I wouldn't even bother to recount the distasteful scenes from this week...which many would say are due to Ror's article etc...but you know what...the commenters, no matter which side they picked, well...a majority of them, all...disappointed in translating their messages.

Now, you guys may not know me but I was here long ago as a contributor, and really loved working with THEHAWK and DD on fan-fiction. Safe to say, I did a couple reviews, editorials and got stuff on main that deserved to be there...and had stuff that should have been there, in my opinion, but didn't make it. But that's subjective. If your article makes main or not, don't bitch...just move on. Writing here's helped me a lot as I moved from being an engineer into a journalist and then went into advertising and digital strategy...where I help create ads for some of the biggest companies that you guys drink from :) - and I also got funds, to do my own graphic novels and creator-owned work, so CBM means a lot to me.

I fought with editors, got banned from G, and begged to come back because I didn't want to contribute, but because CBM does have good articles, complementing the other sites. I read them all and love them all. I was even friends with a lot of editors here before they became editors, and then our relationships deteriorated. But, there's no malice here. Of course, I still make my 'grif'-esque comments, but he's one of my longest buds here...and if you read my articles, you'd also see I predicted Cavill as Superman before anyone else, without scoops...because I'm from Trinidad in the Caribbean. I won't plug links or such...click my icon and read my stuff if you want. Now, I just wanna say...Ror is not a misogynistic pig. Ror's attempt at satire hurtled down the hill, but the guy's a great writer. Writing satire is difficult as not everyone gets it. This time Ror didn't hit the mark but I can say that most, if not all, admins at CBM are totally against sexism, bigotry and all that superficial crap. Trust me...Josh and such still hate me and I have no affinity for them...but Ror and the crew would never condone firing or dis-advocating an actress based on her looks. Ror now knows how to write his next satire and I think we all get the point that we should look for quality and not judge a book by its cover. She isn't my pick for MJ because of the age difference with Andrew, and I wouldn't 'hook up' with her...but different strokes for different folks. She got hired because she has talent. End that section.

Now, what Ror and G and the admins need to realize is that CBM has grown leaps and bounds and the opinions of the site, reflect not only the stakeholders, but the fanboy populace on the whole, and not CBM. The haters who want to bully our nerds and geeks and 'retards'...could justify themselves by misjudging Ror's article. Katey did. You see, even though CBM is a site where users contribute and emotions run high in articles, I always complained to G that a journalistic integrity needs to be maintained. You'd see Josh Wilding, Ror and Mark Julian etc using their real names and not monikers, because they know they aren't writers anymore...they are journalists. That's why they use twitter and plug themselves and why CBM uses FBook to plug themselves. And writefully so! No, I did not make an error. I meant what I typed. CBM are influencers now and that's amazing...and something I love. We need, all of us, to show tact. You don't see other sites calling their scribblers...writers, do you? No, they're journalists. Ror may not have to apologize...and again, I vouch for his credibility, but he has learnt that what you write can reflect a lot from a certain niche, whether it be a town, an online community or a segment of the population, and it can also cast aspersions on CBM and fanboys. Some sites may not even want to work with folks, just because they're associated with CBM, and that's not cool because for every dick commenter or editor or journalist here, there's 3 good ones. If you just google Shailene's full-name, CinemaBlend's article comes up and automatically gives CBM bad press...and unfortunately, the world runs on first perception. They won't bother to dig deep to see if CBM erred or if Ror just made a mistake etc. No, they'd write us off from day 1.

Our community was hated on because of that article...from Youtube to Twitter to whatever. But Ror's intentions were good. He didn't reflect them properly. And G may have not had rebuttals in the best form or fashion, but you readers need to know that when a site is user-run and generated by contributing editors, who can't make this their only living, there will be 'stealing' (not saying it did happen), there will be shitty articles...there will be emotions boiling over on all end of the spectrums...but Battling Murdock and Corndog Burglar said it best as they're still active more than me. I won't say what they said because I hate being redundant but those guys talk epic sense. Humans make mistakes and there's too much good here to let a bad stain spoil the canvas.

As for CBM's progress, fans...read more comics...then comment. Watch more movies...then comment. Because far too often, folks here, I've noticed don't know that much about comics, and that's all good. We're here to educate and build a brotherhood. Read more Image, IDW, Dark Horse, BOOM!, Vertigo etc. Learn more before you just bash actors and actresses selected. I tried to pioneer comics here, especially indie and creator-owned, and didn't persevere with it. Now I see a younger crowd who may adapt more to such. Also, a lot here needs to be more into Marvel and DC than MarvelNow! or the NEW 52...and you'll see how amazing we can converse on older stuff. The fanboys fighting make no sense. Stop attacking actors, publishers and creators. If you don't like them, get off your ass and go make a comic or movie on your own!

I beef'd with Intruder and I see Levitikuz doing his thing...but we all need to calm the [frick] down and take it down a notch. We're giving the industry a bad name. We all want to see our books, creators and films do well...so let's mature and do just that. No one's perfect...and no site is. Carry on. Let's all unite and make this shit happen.

Jon Hickman said it - "We need to get bigger" and Cap/Stark did just that. So our version of Civil War is over...and I ask all you fans...

"Where do you stand now"?

The problem with this community is that it has no real world experience. The argument here is that "people make mistakes," but these contributors deny having made a mistake at all. They only offer half-apologies that say, "sorry you feel that way" instead of acknowledging their own awful mentalities.

These people aren't writing on some kind of personal blog anymore. You know what Ben Parker said about responsibility? The editors here have no interest in self-discipline or restraint because they feel *entitled* to make their terrible teenage jokes. They're blind to their own shortcomings because all they do is deny, deflect, and gaslight their problems away. These contributors don't understand that they live in a world with other people and that discourse has an effect beyond what is immediately visible. (If you don't believe that, look up Frank Luntz and consider what he does for a living).

Ok...if this thing doesn't end soon i say we try my solution. We pool all our resources, rent a giant WWF (yes i still call it that) rage in the cage style ring and beat the living sht outta each other. Then, when we've all takin' as many a$$ kickings as we can absorb , we all sit down with (an age appropriate ) beverage and or substance of choice. After that we all return back to our own computers, mobile devices, morse code machines, smoke signals, whatever, and go back to having a good time round here! Any takers? d;-)

IMO the problem is people don't have respect for others opinions or they get overly sensitive about stupid shit like this whole Woodley situation.

Thanks for the good words Anil, me and you didnt always see eye to eye back in the day. Sometimes we did, others not so much. But its good to see that we're still capable of being civil and giving props where they're due.

Great article, bud.

Finally, some words of quality on this issue. I was seriously starting to lose faith and interest in the comment sections of this site. Not surprisingly though, the valuable editorial on a topic is the least commented on. Hopefully though, this is a sign that this nonsense is starting to go away.

Thanks Anil.

Damn, I reread this and in this internet world I couldn't help but think my sincerity could be read as sarcasm. It's not. I mean it.
