The Razzie Awards honor the worst that Hollywood has to offer, and were scheduled to take place in the Barnsdall Theatre in Los Angeles tonight. However, despite previous protestations that the show would go on, John Wilson, the co-founder of the awards, has confirmed that the event is now either "canceled/postponed."
"The Mayor of Los Angeles shut down all city-owned venues where more than 50 people could gather, including our site, The Barnsdall Theatre," he said in a statement to
Deadline.
"Without a hall, we could not proceed with the show. But we are hoping to have something to disseminate by tonight – Perhaps even by what had been our original 'curtain time' of 8 p.m. tonight (Saturday, March 14). Obviously, if there is no live show, there is nothing to be streamed, either."
Cats, A Madea Family Funeral, and Rambo: Last Blood were leading the charge in terms of nominations this year, and even though the "winners" are usually announced the day before the Academy Awards, plans changed this year when the Oscars ended up taking place sooner than expected.
Below is the full list of nominees for the 40th Annual Razzie Awards. When/if the winners will be announced is a mystery, but we do hope they're revealed to us at some point because the ceremony is usually a blast to follow!
