This Year's Razzie Awards Have Been Postponed/Possibly Canceled Thanks To Coronavirus Pandemic

The organizers of the event have previously insisted that the show would go on regardless of the coronavirus, but this year's Razzie Awards have now been canceled/postponed just hours before beginning!

The Razzie Awards honor the worst that Hollywood has to offer, and were scheduled to take place in the Barnsdall Theatre in Los Angeles tonight. However, despite previous protestations that the show would go on, John Wilson, the co-founder of the awards, has confirmed that the event is now either "canceled/postponed."

"The Mayor of Los Angeles shut down all city-owned venues where more than 50 people could gather, including our site, The Barnsdall Theatre," he said in a statement to Deadline. "Without a hall, we could not proceed with the show. But we are hoping to have something to disseminate by tonight – Perhaps even by what had been our original 'curtain time' of 8 p.m. tonight (Saturday, March 14). Obviously, if there is no live show, there is nothing to be streamed, either."

Cats, A Madea Family Funeral, and Rambo: Last Blood were leading the charge in terms of nominations this year, and even though the "winners" are usually announced the day before the Academy Awards, plans changed this year when the Oscars ended up taking place sooner than expected.

Below is the full list of nominees for the 40th Annual Razzie Awards. When/if the winners will be announced is a mystery, but we do hope they're revealed to us at some point because the ceremony is usually a blast to follow!

Originally, the plan was for them to be streamed by Comedy Dynamics.

Good. The Razzies are a joke. Most of their nominees don't even belong where they are. They're supposed to be bad movies, but some of the choices they make are even dumber than the movies themselves.

@MosquitoFarmer - on God. like, “worst actor/actress”? All these names are stellar actors with terrible roles.

And how you gonna call Tom Hooper the worst director when the story Cats has always been unwatchable, even as a stage show.

Birds of Prey is gonna get wrecked at next year's Razzies!

Remember when the DCEU dominated the Razzies. Yep that happened. DC, man. I don't even....

David Harbour was good in Hellboy. It failed spectacularly in capturing the mood and atmosphere of the Mignola universe though. They were too afraid to deviate from what del Toro had done, and chose to just imitate it poorly instead.

Good, the Razzies is basically just people that never got to be in the industry who are now taking out there frustration by trashing the easiest movies and actors each year, I just find it embarrassing at this point.

Not sure what Keanu Reeves needs to redeem himself for tbh. Extremely strong category this year though with Sandler, Lopez and Murphy. Guess it'll be Sandler who wins in the end.

I was personally pretty disappointed by Godzilla KotM, but it does not deserve to be nominated here at all.

CATS was a pretty horrible affair all around, but I really don't think poor Francesca Hayward deserves to be nominated for something that wasn't her fault in the slightest. She did well with what she was given. No objection to the big name stars getting nominated though - they have a lot more options overall and still decided to sign up for that madness.

@Kyos - Replicas was the worst movie of 2019 but usually Keanu is really good.

Did they really nominate Joker for a Razzie (I'll be honest, I don't even fully understand the joke behind the title of the award)

It was probably for "ratings" or whatever this show gets.

Don't they normally even do this shit like around the oscars...

All the nominees dodged that bullet.
