Yea but it's not something to worry about, many of the main puppeteers have an "apprentice" that is set to replace all of their roles (to keep consistency). It's a bit more honorable to the performer that way I think, instead of giving the puppet to anyone who can imitate the voice.

However, sometimes the voices are split between puppeteers. Jim Henson's puppets were mostly split between Steve Whitmire (Kermit) and Bill Baretta (Rowlf).

Sweet, I guess live cinematic Smaug actor Benedict Cumberbatch is more popular than we thought. Even more popular than some of the people he has worked with in Hollywood
