Why I feel that CBM are painting themselves into a corner

Why I feel that CBM are painting themselves into a corner

Friends, Countryman, fellow nerds, Geeks and Dweebs. Hear Ye, Hear Ye as I begin to pontificate what I feel may be leading up to what we all hate... The reboot of marvel in the future and the soon to be redone Justice League.

Now I present to you all a few pieces of evidence of what will be the next 5 yrs. A desolate wasteland of movies that we have fallen in love with only to see them done over and over and over and over again. I give you all 3 points that really stand out to me as as as as as That BULL$%^!. I digress, lets get to the manifesto.

1. The corporate America effect

Now I know what some of you may be saying. Where does corporate America play into CBMs? Well the answer is simple. When I saw that Paul Rudd was cast as Ant-man I almost cried. This is another grab of a middle aged White male. WIth all of the CBMs we see this (save for Thor and Capt. America.) its a young white dude instead. These movies are starting to look like the board rooms across America. Bland with the same faces just different places feel. Now not to slight Paul Rudd or Robert Downey Jr. for being a little dated or white. That would be stupid to say I am not a fan. But in all honesty these guys will age out and want to do other projects ala Christian Bale. I wouldve thought that with Downey and Ruffalo getting older (closer or past 50) that Marvel would have the foresight to either a start a youth movement or diversify some characters but NOPE. Same ol same Ol. this will force them to have to redo and reboot the characters constantly. Like over the course of my life I have had to have seen at least 3 supermen, 150 different Batmen, and soon many different Avengers. 1 common theme is they all looked alike and acting styles very similar middle aged and white. Not bad but with CBMs being the latest trend it will die out similar to the Western genre unless this is addressed. We could all use a superhero that ages like the actor and the plot can be based on this real time effect.

2. Where are the ladies

Now this is imperative to the growth of the genre. With all of the female superheroes available. Let me give you the rundown Black widow, and a extremis using Gwenneth Paltrow. Iknow what youre saying they have Scarlet witch and Wonder Woman. But I mean are these the most dynamic women in comics. Now Wonder Woman I feel is iconic. But seeing Rogue be regulated to a leach type character was depressing, she single handedly couldve made X-men a visual treat. And as I think about it none of those women actually got enough screen time to steal the show without being the damsel in distress. They need to stop showing the women in these cliche type manners. It makes it almost impossible for the character to stand alone. Again we have gotten Ant-Man b4 Wonder Woman as a long time comic fan this is disgraceful. Not to down Ant-Man but he just isnt a Titan like WW. They need to take the same chance with a female lead as they did with Thor or Capt.A. even Iron Man. I think from a fans perspective is How cool would it be to hear your Girlfriend say "wake up the Wonder Woman comes out today". that would be a heart melter... And for all the critics who say a woman lead wont work. I have one name for you............. Ripley

3. Stop playing the audience with these inaccurate plot twists and half told stories

This really gets my goat we've seen this with DC and Marvel alike. The Mandarin was a joke and Zod being killed was whack. Also what happened to the Red Skull. Now what everybody thinks is that TWS will tell this story. I just dont know B. like the Skull saw all that Avenger mess happening and did nothing. He is in collusion with TWS. I mean really what a joke. Now that Mandarin was that Bull. I really thought the Mandarin was an exciting villain with an origin similar to Doc Strange. That had potenetial to be a graet Avenger villain.. What happened to the Leader variation from the Hulk am I the only one who saw dudes head act funny after the Gamma exposure. Keep in mind that The HUlk is apart of the canon.I truly believe that they made alot of this up as they were filming as opposed to having a plan based on how all of that played out. Now to Batman. How they had no powers and everything was based on will power. that was whack. Now they have to redo Batman for it to fit un Superman. Now the question will be is Affleck the Batman for years to come. I dont think so. Superman had a few holes too. Where did that big dude go. he disappeared, who was the survivor on the wrecked Kryptonian ship. Will Wonder Woman just walk out of nowhere and be like "Hey you guysssssssssssss" on some Goonie type stuff. Who knows how this will work out. But I can tell you that perfection is not what I seek. I just want a real feel good movie where it drags me into the story so deep that I dont notice these things. ( Heres looking at you Middle Earth and No brothers having movie. not even a black elf in sight. they could've at least had a Puerto Rican Dwarf..). I am a fan first and foremost and I want my justice. (NO PUN INTENDED)....................OUT

*sigh,* more fanboy whining about Mandarin and Superman killing Zod and cbm companies actually wanting to make money. *sigh*

Oh, and as to the "big dude" in MoS, no he didn't just disappear. He was shown carrying Faora back into a ship. Pay attention!

@Lhornbk is right, the big Kryptonian carried Faora into the ship and was presumably sent into the phantom zone with her.
And will these stupidass editorials ever stop?

I'm still not sure what that entire paragraph about middle aged white men have to do with the "corporate America effect"

But then again, that may be because I have no idea what the "corporate America effect" is...

@Lhornbk and Deathstroke
how naive, Do you not realize that these films will make money no matter what. Imagine if they actually kept it close to the actual comics and made a accurate depiction of our favorite characters. You new age fans sicken me

" Imagine if they actually kept it close to the actual comics and made a accurate depiction of our favorite characters."

Then only fans will like them, and for the general audience it goes back to things for only nerds. Then they make less money.

Fans will see these movies NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you hated the last six movies Marvel Studios put out, you will still see the next one. The general audience needs to be catered to far more than nerds.

I remember in high school, being a nerd was difficult because of non-nerds. Nowadays, it's difficult because of fellow nerds.

Countrymen*.

The second "hear ye", shouldn't have a capital letter and the "ye" shouldn't when used either time.

Learn where to put commas.

I don't know what to say about the repetition of the word "as".

Screw it, I'll save myself some time and just say this:

Learn how to write English without making a single mistake, or, failing that, just learn how to spot a mistake when you write something.

Better yet, stop writing. You're clearly not suited for it.

None of the points you make are even remotely valid, you're just spewing out nonsense and hoping somebody is able to make sense of it.

The movies will never need to stick to the comics, and do you want to know why that is? Because the general movie-going audience couldn't give less of a rat's ass if the movie is reliable to the source material. Heck, I read comics avidly, I prefer it when they change it up a little. Reason being, if they adapt everything straight from the comics, all us fans will just be looking at something we've seen before.

You're clearly just a close-minded fanboy, who doesn't realise how industry works or even how cinema works in general. Nothing is ever true to the source material, with a few exceptions and even then, the reliability is only spanning a few points.

The reason there were no black elves in Lord of the Rings, is because the book never mentioned a black elf, or a Puerto Rican dwarf or anything like that. This is a fictional world that has its own races and its own nationalities, black people just so happen to not be one of them.

All you did with this article was complain about things that have already been complained about. You just did it in a much less intelligent way and tried to make it humorous.

Sorry, but you're going to need to try harder next time.

Diversifying for the sake of it is stupid. I'm ok with making the supporting cast like Perry White a different race, but I don't think we should make Ant Man black just so we can have a black superhero. We've had Blade for 3 films and a TV show, Spawn for a terrible movie, Steel for another terrible movie, and X-men with diversity all over the place. How about they just adapt the existing hero line up that is diversified? Jon Stewart GL, Black Panther (I'm sure his film will just be called Panther because they're not releasing a film titled after a violent hate group), and the whole other groups of different race characters we have out there
