He’s back in the comic shop. Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, Fury) is truly committed or has just fallen in love with Punisher comics.

Last week the 38 year old actor made a visit to Hypno Comics  in Ventura, CA. To prepare for his role as Frank Castle AKA The Punisher in Season 2 of Netflix and Marvel’s critically acclaimed series Daredevil. Now we're hearing that he made a return visit this Sunday.

"Jon Bernthal liked the stuff I gave him to read, hooked up again today," said shop owner George Chase. "He's doing his work! It feels good to know I'm helping my favorite Superhero show in some small way."

It’s always great to see an actor look to the books themselves in preparation for the role. Daredevil season 2 is shaping up to be even better than the first. What do you think?  Leave your comments below.

Maybe with Punisher getting big again Marvel can finally [frick]ing reprint the Punisher MAX line. Some ridiculous prices on those graphic novel sets!

more respect for the actor that ACTUALLY does research of the character they are to perform as. ie. video game character, comic book character.
Unlike Mark wahlberg who did no research for his roll as Max Payne.

Or the cast of FFINO who did no research either

The funny thing about his is that Marvel just released their new lineup of books and they cancelled Punisher.

Agreed, I think he'll do well. What story lines do you want them to pull from for the series?

It's cool that he's reading up on this stuff, but he needs to branch out. Every comic shop owner has their own tastes and stock. If he goes to a different place, he'll get a more wide variety of what Castle truly is. MAX and all is good, but then you have War Journal and others.

He basically just needs to be Shane again.

This will be truthful to those comics unlike the fake pictures of Ayer trying to hype up Shit Squad.

Ehh, I don't know about Welcome Back, Frank. The 2004 movie totally [frick]ed that story line up and people will still remember the basic plot points. I'd like to see The Slavers story get adapted at some point.

I loved Ennis' run on Punisher. Not all of it -- the more "overt-the-top violent humour" stories I didn't like much, actually --, but the more serious stories were absolutely brilliant.
