ok here's the deal. of all the punisher films it was by far the best and an awesome film in it's own right. i was only paying attention ot frank, jigsaw and hisbrother. the other characters are so expendable. epic bloodshed content. dude as just hands down hardcore. so in my eyes, lexi delivered and delivered well. now for what was lacking, you have to look at the past two films as the cinema for their time so that the next film will encompass elements of all three. the first film had a very dark manic feel to it. it was like the batman reboot in the sense that if an actual person became the punisher, he'd have permanent 5 o'clock, bags under the eyes and become a nude meditating recluse in the sewers bent on "i don't care for kevlar" vigilanteism. now take the thom jane film and grab from that the "cia-mess-with-your-head" antics he used, the amusingly creative"make em suffer" kills and the unique bruiser hitmen used against him along with his boobytrap-madmax last ditch-everything is a weapon approach. lastly, take the over the top killshots(it was like shoot em up but believeable) and kill scenes and the main ingredient from war zone that really made it gel for me: in the words of captain america, castle isn't a nutcase that should be locked away, he's an animal that should be put down. he's an animalistic, methodical, cold, myopic maniac with just enough reserve to not start killing indiscriminantly. he is creatively lethal and creatively torturous and damn near everyone is game when he has you dead to rights. so the next film needs to have a villain that's matches his lunacy, drive, passion and creativity. jigsaw did this but not to the utmost. i think using bullseye or typhoid mary as a tie in to a daredevil reboot (marvel knights style) is a good start along with the other elements i menntioned from the two previous films. i believe we definitely have a weekend box office winner.
