After being rumored to be in talks to join Gavin Hood's adaptation of Orson Scott Card's seminal Sci-fi novel, Harrison Ford has officially signed on as Colonel Graff. He is joined by two young Oscar nominees in Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit). Some more young actors have also signed on to play some of Ender's (Asa Butterfield) class mates: Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy "Jax" Pinchak, Suraj Parthasarathy, Conor Carroll and Khylin Rhambo. Variety have the lowdown on which characters they will all play..

Ford will play Colonel Hyram Graff, who's in charge of training the young male recruits at an elite military academy. Breslin will play Valentine Wiggin, Ender's older sister, while Steinfeld will play Petra Arkanian, Ender's ally and trusted right hand.

Knight, who previously appeared in Hood's "Rendition," will play Bean, the smallest new recruit; Arias ("Hannah Montana") will play Bonzo, the commander of Salamander Army; Pinchak ("Let Me In") will play Peter Wiggin, Ender's brilliant but tortured older brother; and Parthasarathy will play Alai, the first recruit to befriend Ender.

Carroll ("Away We Go") will play Bernard, the leader of the new recruits who bullies Ender at first; and Rhambo will play Dink, a brainy member of Rat Army.

Well, that's some gang of new cast members. If you haven't read the novel it involves the recruiting of extremely gifted children (the most gifted of which is the title character Ender Wiggin) by the government to help destroy an insect-like alien race. I was not very impressed by Ford's last outing taking on aliens so hopefully this will be a return to form for a man who has played some of the most iconic characters in movie history.

This cast is shaping up nicely.
Hope Ben Kingsly is locked in, him and Ford are some of my favorite actors of all time.

Am I the only one that thinks Harrison Ford has turned into a terrible actor? It just seems like he is phoning in his performances now.

I think Gary Oldman pointed it out perfectly, that when actors get older their performances mellow out a bit and the roles they choose become blander.

Harrison Ford is legend though and I'll watch anything he's in.

This really starting to catch my interest, and I've never read the books but this sounds like it could be good.

I thought the short story was much better than the novel that Card adapted from it. This story might work better as an episode of the Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits.

No matter what anyone may think about Cowboys and Aliens, or that earring he seems to think is cool, Harrison Ford is still Harrison Ford. Now that he's on board I can finally be sure that the movie is not only going to get made, but be made soon. And I'm looking forward to it. I hope that they do justice to Bean, in the first book he was strictly a background character, which is why it took a near complete re-write to show the same story from his perspective to flesh him out, and Card has always said that a movie would combine both Ender's Game and Shadow.

Hailee Stenfield and Abigail Breslin in one movie? My gosh...and I'm still that young enough. :P

Oh, and Harrison Ford, too. I think I'll start borrowing the books from my friend now.

So did they solve the script problems involving combining Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow? I really liked Marvel Comic's adaptation. Card was like, producer of the comic adaptation or something. It was great. I wonder if it helped solve some of the film script problems.

I hope they incorporate Bean a lot. He's my favorite character in the whole series.
Actually, it probably wouldn't be too hard to film an Ender's Shadow movie while filming Ender's Game. The stories take place at the same time, so footage can be reused.
