'Darth Vader' & 'Ashoka Tano' Clash In STAR WARS REBELS Season 2

'Darth Vader' & 'Ashoka Tano' Clash In STAR WARS REBELS Season 2

Well, they do on one of these new posters anyway... whether the two former friends encounter each other in the second season of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels remains to be seen. One thing's for sure though, they both feature in the awesome season 2 trailer which you can also see after the jump...

Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels will not only feature James Earl Jones returning to voice Vader and Ashley Eckstein reprising the role of Ashoka, but Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself Sarah Michelle Geller joining the cast as a mysterious character many believe will turn out to be a young Princess Leia. Plus, as you'll see from the brilliant trailer below, we'll be seeing some more familiar faces from the Clone Wars such as Captain Rex. Though Ahsoka will play a "significant role" in the series moving forward, don't expect her to pop up every week. Like Vader, the character will be used sparingly to maintain some mystery and excitement for the episodes in which they are featured.

Star Wars Rebels poster

Continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, "Star Wars Rebels" unfolds between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV and tells the story of the motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost who together face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries and embark on thrilling adventures. In its second season, "Star Wars Rebels" will feature recurring appearances by fan-favorite characters including Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.

I liked the trailer overall seems to be a much darker turn for the series forcing our heroes out of their home. A little forced with Vader to me I would have been fine with what seems to be two new Inquisitors to be the villains of this season maybe save Vader for the third season. One thing I did love though is Rex being back I loved Rex in the Clone Wars show and seeing he is still a good guy and rebelled against Order 66 is awesome.

Looks like hondo is returning too. This season looks alot better than last season. The Inquisitor was a stupid villian. Rex was probably my favorite character of the Clone Wars. I hope they do a flashback episode to show why he did not go along with Order 66/ left the clones before it.

I'll be blunt: I watched the original Clone Wars 2D cartoon, thought it was okay. Watched the Clone Wars 3D movie, thought it was neat animation for the time (Quickly burnt out on it after Clone Wars, Green Lantern, Batman, etc), but even for Star Wars, I felt the humor was just way too kiddy for me. Which is cool, it's a kids show, it's suppose to be dumbed down (Then again I grew up during the era of G.I. Joe reruns, Batman, X-Men and Spider-Man TAS, Rocko's Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy so...). But lately, all I've been hearing about this show, reviews and discussions, is from grown men. Is it bearable to watch?

@SuperSomething616 Hate to be "that guy", but this is where you need to delve into the EU and take dialogue from the movie and run with it. In Episode III, as Yoda, Obi-Wan and the politician that takes baby Leia, whose name I can't remember because I tried blocking the prequels out of my head, part their ways and say their goodbyes, they mention the remaining Jedi have scattered all out. One could assume, those Jedi would run into force-sensitive beings and teach them. Anyways, according to the EU, which has been retconned out of existence, there were many Jedi that survived order 66.

Shouldn't by now all the Jedi be extinct!!!,for an order that you find out in SW ep4 that are a relic of the past they sure are a lot of them close to the events of the movie

@SuperSomething616

Says who? Luke was the only Jedi by the time ROTJ happened and that doesn't happen for another 9-10 years away from the events of this story.

there are 2 jedi in the series, and one of them left the order before the clone wars ended. i like the look of the 2 new inquisitors, i think kanan is going to die now that vader is involved.

Ya looked like Hondo which is cool he was a fun character in the Clone Wars show so having him as a villain/ally will be fun.

When does the 2nd season air? I really hated to see the Clone Wars series go, but am happy this is picking up on some of the characters like Rex and Asoka. I really like these shows because they give back stories the movies never can incorporate due to time constraints. You also see a lot more than a movie can show being it is animated. These definitely are my 'childish' indulgences.

The prequels really hurt the timeline of the Star Wars universe. Back when the original films came out, the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire seemed well in the past... Kind of like WWII was to the eighties. Sure, older people had war stories to tell, but it was completely removed from the lives of anyone under sixty. It was reasonable that people wouldn't believe in the force or the Jedi.

Now, instead, the entire fall of the Republic was... What, 16-18 years before "A New Hope?" Teenagers and children would be the only people who *dont* remember what life was like then. Hell, if you can remember seeing "The Phantom Menace" in theaters, you'd be old enough to remember living under Jedi protection.

There isn't a more perfect ending to the Ahsoka arc than to have her killed by Darth Vader. Solidify him as truly evil.

So want to see Vader to be taken aback by the first time seeing Asohka and whisper "Snips" in a slightly Anakin-ish voice and see him wrestle with his emotions.

@ekrolo2 Well whos to say in the big old galaxy that still more jedi weren't hiding with the knowledge that they would be killed if they came out of hiding, like Force Unleashed, many jedi still survived and just like the Empire you don't know if there are or how many, Jedi are left.

I don't think Vader will kill Ashoka in their first match. I think Ashoka might deal him a mild injury because Vader will be taken aback by her presence. I wonder if Ashoka knows Anakin is Vader. It would be amazing if Vader beat her in a duel and right before delievering the killing blow, he would take off his mask to show her who he used to be.

Very curious how the Vader/Ashoka moment will be handled. If she somehow survives, she could be sort of like the Yoda of the new trilogy with Luke as the Obi-wan. Also interested in Kanan and Ezra's fates.
