Hayden Christensen Returns As Anakin Skywalker For The SDCC Exclusive Cover Of THRAWN: ALLIANCES

Well, his likeness does! Timothy Zahn is back with the highly-anticipated follow-up to last year’s bestselling Thrawn novel, and this SDCC exclusive cover features the villain alongside Anakin Skywalker...

It's highly unlikely that Hayden Christensen will ever reprise the role of Anakain Skywalker/Darth Vader (in live-action, at any rate), so the closest we get to seeing the Star Wars prequels actor with a lightsaber in his hand again could be the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive cover to Timothy Zahn's upcoming novel, Thrawn: Alliances.

The follow-up to Thrawn will see the blue-skinned baddie join forces with Darth Vader for an Imperial mission, but we'll also flashback to the first time they crossed paths, before Anakin gave himself over to the dark side.

Check out the cover below, and head on over to StarWars.com to have a read through an excerpt from the novel.

There was a spot for Anakin in the sequel trilogy...but for some reason Yoda showed up.

@IronGenesis - To be fair, Hamill's Luke had zero interaction with Christensen's Anakin and McGregor's Kenobi - bringing in Yoda made sense.

@IronGenesis - Zombie-Yoda. Another shitty Rian Johnson idea.

@Deathnaut - yeah I mean it's not like other Jedi have shown up after they died...

@repulse93 - Just feel it should be the boys father who comes to Him in a moment of need. And Luke is still very much a boy in that scene.

Plus, 20 years of opportunity for Luke to get to know him.

@IronGenesis - That's a fair argument.
However, given what we've seen earlier in the film, I got the impression that Luke may not be fond of being on speaking terms with his dad.

@Deathnaut - If you're gonna call something shitty, at least blame the originator of it shitty - in this case, George Lucas.

@Danbito - But they did not LOOK like they were dead. That's why I said "Zombie".

@Deathnaut - Yoda looked like Yoda from the Original Trilogy. Not sure where the 'dead' coming from, maybe because they use some props?

Hayden may have struggled with his performance and line delivery in a lot of instances; I mean, a lot of the cast did in the prequels. (I always say not to forget there was someone behind the camera saying it was good enough), but I still really like Anakin as a character. Especially after Clone Wars. Plus he had some real chemistry with Ewan. And his scenes with Palpatine were pretty.... palpable.

I think we'll be seeing Hayden in some way, shape or form in Episode IX

Aww, massive grin on my face. Every time I see him have anything to do with Star Wars nowadays it just makes me happy. I loved that he got a warm welcome when he appeared at Star Wars Celebration. At Soccer Aid, earlier this month, someone yelled "May the force be with you" to him and he just smiled.

I want him to pop up again in the franchise. I'll keep repeating how having a scene with Rey, Luke, and Anakin (and Obi-wan) would be the most impactful shit - three generations, all together.

Hayden was great in Shattered Glass. He's a solid actor, just not in the same way as McGregor who could carry his own in spite of the prequel material. If you haven't seen it give it a shot, also Peter Sarsgaard is a boss in this movie.
