LANDO: Donald Glover Plays Coy When Asked If He'll Star In The SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Spinoff

When Lando was announced, there was no mention of who would play the beloved character in the Disney+ "event series." Asked if he's working on the project, Donald Glover chooses his words carefully...

During Disney's Investor Day at the end of 2020, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced plans for a limited series titled Lando. Star Wars legend Billy Dee Williams was never mentioned, and neither was Solo: A Star Wars Story star Donald Glover, though it's been widely assumed that the latter would reprise the role after his performance was met with widespread critical acclaim.

The Atlanta star recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live (via SFFGazette.com), and the host asked the actor and rapper outright whether he's working on this project set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Unfortunately, his answer was a little vague!

"[Laughs] Am I? You're just telling all my business. They're making another Alien...is that true? [Laughs] No, yeah, I have a lot of things...I like to blossom and then go away," Glover said. "Right now is definitely the start of one of those. I have a tonne of stuff that I've been working on, but I just wanted to feel...I want it all to come out at the same time. That's what's important to me."

That's not a denial, but it's also far from confirmation we'll see him play Lando again. It would be a real shame if Lucasfilm has dropped the ball on this series, as there's a tonne of potential for Glover's version of this character and still dangling plot threads from Solo that need to be addressed.

"The galaxy’s favorite scoundrel, Lando Calrissian, will return in Lando, a brand-new event series for Disney+," reads the logline shared by Disney for Lando. "Justin Simien is in the early stages of developing the project." That's all we know, but again, you have to hope this isn't another of those Star Wars projects that have fallen by the wayside and won't become a reality due to creative issues.

Love Donald. When I first saw him in interviews a few years back I did not like the man but his work just got better and better. His talent is undeniable.

As for his star wars show? Good God star wars is creatively bankrupt.

I finally got around to watching Atlanta, and I am enthralled by the series. I was asking myself how tf does Marvel only get him for a 5 min role in Spider-Man

@DannRamm113 - ATLANTA is S-tier television whenever it is on. Arguably the best show on tv when it is airing.

@DannRamm113 -

Marvel is known for keeping talent on the bench until they're ready.

Look at the blade film for example. It's been like 5 years since the reveal.💁

That's why marvel is dominant. Always put your story before the talent.😺

I think him journaling himself in Solo is the perfect framing device. Could make it so old Lando is going over the recordings, and we see the stories play out with Glover

@bkmeijer1 - well they better start filming Billy Dee Williams stuff now before he passes away. That man doesn't have much time left, same goes for James Earl Jones too.

@Timerider84 - I'm sure they have so much James Earl Jones on file they could use his voice forever. Of course, as long as there are no legal ramifications.

Meh. Movie was okay. No interest in seeing a return of those versions of the characters though.

He is a legend for this. And who the hell is the responsible for us not getting a video for Redbone, Zombies, Terrified...they helped give us great music but the visuals wouldve been out of this world
