2 Clips From "District 9"

2 Clips From "District 9"

MTV have these exclusive clips from Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson's "District 9". This movie is shaping up to be the real dark horse of the summer!

The first clip features leading man Sharlto Copley, as he examines a suspicious Prawn(name given to the aliens) safehouse in the titular aliens-only district. The second clip gives you an idea of what alien overseers MNU is all about.

Yes i know this is not strictly comic book movie news! But first time director Neill Blomkamp directed a series of three short films set in the Halo universe (known collectively as Landfall) and was hired to direct the movie adaptation of the series before financial problems forced the project to be indefinitely postponed. This led to Peter Jacksons involvement and subsequent departure. But along the way both men crossed paths and Blomkamp showed Jackson his short film "Alive in Joburg". Jackson was so impressed that he asked Blomkamp to write a feature length treatment which he would produce.

And here we are! I don't know about you, but if this movie is half as good as it looks we are in for a treat from the man who almost brought us "Halo"!

This is really off topic, but has anyone seen Bad Taste? It was a campy alien gorefest Peter Jackson directed back in the 80's. Very funny movie, a must see for sure!

I'll tell you this: District 9 is amazing! I got to see a prescreening in NYC a couple weeks ago (July 29th), and I was blown away. I almost wrote a review for the site, but I really don't want to spoil anything about this movie (especially since Blomkamp requested we don't let any plot points leak out onto the web!). I'd really recommend going in cold and not reading much of anything about this movie before you go! I can't wait to see this again this weekend!
