In the years since the destruction of Zordon, many changes have occurred to the Power Rangers Universe. Lost Galaxy was connected to the Zordon Era by means of Alpha, the Astro Mega Ship, Bulk and part of the season by Karone (Astronema). Lost Galaxy was also one the last times we'd see a ranger team with the white gloves/ white boots as part of their Ranger uniform, then on the gloves and boots became the same color as the rest of their costumes. At one point, when the series was owned by Walt Disney, there was serious talk about converting it to animation in order to cut down on production costs. Below animator/ illustrator Mike McCraw gives us a glimpse at what Power Rangers could have been...

Some of the other changes that came with the transfer from Zordon Era to Post-Zordon Era was the interaction between characters. No longer was it a group of friends who were very close and helped each other as well as their community without powers. In the Post Zordon Era, we see a lot of arguing and fighting between power rangers, something we rarely saw in the Zordon Era.

It seems that after Zordon's destruction, it became ok for main characters to die on screen as long as the series eventually resurrected them as seen in Lost Galaxy on a number of occasions. It also became acceptable to morph in view of the public and de-morph in view of the public.

Originally, Haim Saban was going to end the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers season with the episode Doomsday, but fan demand wouldn't allow it. After the last of the original cast left the series, it became standard practice to only allow a cast and series to only last 1 or 2 seasons. Eventually, Zordon Era information and story lines became wiped out in the Post Z era, save for the introduction of Thrax in the Once a Ranger episode as well as Tommy Oliver for Dino Thunder and a few other appearances by Zordon Era Rangers.

During the Zordon Era, each season was a continuation of the last, which wasn't usually the case post Zordon. The Rangers were usually assisted by a robot in Zordon Era and save for In Space, their mentor usually existed in a glass tube. Post Zordon, Angel Grove was never used and rarely mentioned again. We no longer see the use of wrist communicators nor do we see the rangers teleport in the post Zordon Era.

We also began to see in the post Zordon Era that villains were now being destroyed rather than just monsters, which in the Zordon Era they would be imprisoned or transformed. Humans became capable of accessing the Morphing Grid and creating Power Rangers as well. During the Zordon Era, we only hear of the Morphing Grid as something that only Zordon, Alpha, Ninjor and few others have access too, but in Dino Thunder Tommy Oliver actually finds the Morphing Grid and it's given a physical appearance and holds all the powers and information of past, present and future Rangers.

The final change thus far between Zordon Era and Post Zordon is that the timeline was very linear with the exception of traveling to the past in just a couple episodes. Now we have Power Rangers from the future and alternate realities making a timeline virtually impossible to tie down.

Power Rangers was going to be much different than what it ended up being, do to parents protesting the show. If you recall, Lord Zedd started out as a much darker character but over time became more comedic. The changed occurred in response to children being injured and even in one case dieing because of false accusations to the show. It was deemed to dark for children, and thus Saban Entertainment changed the layout of the show to please parents.

In 2013, Saban will be taking Power Rangers back to it's roots with Power Rangers Mega Force. Five teenagers with attitude will be chosen to save the Earth once again.
