20th Century Fox Unveils The First Official Image From Ridley Scott's ALIEN: COVENANT

Yesterday was Alien Day (April 26, LV 426...geddit?), and to celebrate, Fox has unveiled our first official look at Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. The new crew badge is emblazoned with the angels from the top of the Ark of The Covenant, along with the ever-present Weyland-Yutani Corporation logo.

Granted it's not much, but it's something.

In other Xenomorph-related news, director Neill Blomkamp has released some new concept are from his planned direct sequel to James Cameron's Aliens, featuring a grown-up Newt.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demien Bichir and Danny McBride, and is set to hit theaters on August 4, 2017.

I'm assuming that Alien 5 (if it's ever made) is going to completely ignore Alien 3 & Ressurection, because if it does that's fine with me. How do you explain Newt being alive.

@tb86 - That's right...Newt is dead! Sigourney came come back 1,000 times but Newt was alien toast!!!

@incredibleTalk - I think Hollywood has plenty of new ideas but audiences have a tendency to say no thank you.

Looking forward to Alien 5 and especially the return of Michael Biehn as well, who will always be the real Kyle Reese to me.

@SageMode - Blomkamp is apparently ignoring the events of Alien 3 and 4.

Love to be getting more Alien movies but I far more interested in a sequel than the prequel. I look forward to Covenant a whole bunch still though.

I had a feeling that Elizabeth Shaw wouldn't return. At the end of Prometheus, she essentially ventured to go to the alien planet without any food, knowledge of the alien technology on the ship or with certainty that they would welcome her with open arms.
