New ALIEN Teaser Suggests Universe Expansion Through Books, Video Games, And Television Or Movies

In the theatrical release, the humans open up the Predator's gift to mankind, a device that calls itself The Predator Killer. Its a pretty stupid looking CGI armor suit that attaches itself to a scientist.

But that wasn't the only ending filmed. One alternate ending for which pics have begun to be shared online involved Newt from Aliens (which by the way makes no sense unless she traveled through a wormhole). Instead of armor, Newt is The Predator Killer they find when they open up the Predator's pod.

Did you hear that Arnold was asked to return to The Predator in a cameo role that would have set him up in a main role for a supposed sequel? Thank god he said no, he wasn't happy with how little they gave him to do for the role so he said no thanks.

I agree with you, to Scott's credit he tried expanding the Alien universe. And regardless of peoples thoughts about Prometheus, he succeeded in expanding and laying the foundation for some really interesting ideas to be explored. He completely butchered all of this with the bad Alien: Covenant, which is a real shame. I still think he or someone needs to finish the prequel trilogy, so that we don't have an unfinished story.

I actually don't mind them trying to connect Alien and Predator, to me it makes sense from a conceptual viewpoint, and the way they set it up in Predator 2 was actually kind of neat. But now you have a situation where Alien vs Predator is canon in the Predator franchise, but Predators don't exist in the Alien franchise. More importantly though, they haven't successfully been able to connect the two. Results have been mediocre at best.

And that's kind of the larger issue with these two franchises, more so with Predator but same with Alien. You have two franchises with iconic characters and a fascinating concept in general to explore for the two. And anymore when a new Alien or Predator movie comes out, I keep saying to myself "how fcking hard is it to make a good Alien or Predator film?"

I do have a little bit of hope though that new management with Disney purchasing Fox will help save these franchises. Fox has clearly shown that they have no fcking clue what the hell they are doing with something like Predator. They need to go back to basics with Predator, to what made the original so stellar. Or heck, use the actually good Predators film to explore the cosmos a bit. Forget that The Predator ever was released. With Alien, they need to finish what Scott started, perhaps with a limited tv series. But let Blomkamp do his remake of Alien3, which everyone except Scott was excited about. And use that to restart the franchise going forward.

@HeavyMetal4Life - They needed to make the AvP movies about Machiko(the human predator). Then they would have had a strong lead and a POV character into the conflict. Her story even lends itself to a good trilogy arc. With her fight for colony during a hunt, becoming blooded and going with the Predators. Her rise and fall within the Predator community, then her ultimately choosing her humanity. Then finally her trying to reintegrate into human society and her needing to use her training to help end another hunt. Would have even been in the future so it didn't mess with the continuity. Had they kept the original grungy Alien look for the human parts and stuck to her training and hunting for her predator parts. They could have just shot in old factories, mining and drilling sites for the human bits, and stuck to forested areas for her Predator parts. Since any outpost would be a worksite and the Predators prefer forests, any main set could just be a repurposed worksite in the forest(which are littered everywhere). That way they could kept the budget to a minimum like they seemed to be trying to. Best part, from the story to the sets most their work would have already been done for them.

@MrNegative - In defense of Amanda Ripley, she was created for the game Alien Isolation in which she was investigates the disappearance of her mother.

So while it’s boring to keep it in the same family, her story does make complete sense into why she’d interact with xenomorphs

@LEVITIKUZ - I actually saw the director’s cut before the official film version, because I was too young, so I thought this was legit and in my mind it’s always been cannon lol.

I guess I just want the franchise to branch out more (yes I know the reboots attempt do that but how about not set in the past)

@TyrantBossMedia - I totally agree with you take on female leads in the Aliens and Terminator franchises, (you could throw Leia from the original SW in there too imo).

Ripley, Sarah Conner, Leia, and Vasquez for example are all strong tough women (although they all might not START OUT that way). They adapt and become stronger through their experiences, rather than just have us except the modern "grrrrl power" nonsense where 90 pound female actresses easily beat the shit out of 200 pound males.

It all goes back to writing. Give us actual characters with arcs, rather than just pandering to trends.

@Floke - Scott I believe said that most of the Engineers are still alive, just on a different planet. I think he said the world that David destroyed was an outpost moon.

What stood out about the Alien at the time was the isolation and horror, which in my opinion was far surpassed by John Carpenter's The Thing a few years later. That s### is far scarier and more full of possibilities. And I like to pretend the 2011 version of The Thing didn't happen because imho, it got the nature of the organism wrong. Anyway, I'd far sooner watch movies about that than something like The Alien.
