New ALIEN Teaser Suggests Universe Expansion Through Books, Video Games, And Television Or Movies

A new Alien teaser hints that Amanda Ripley's story will be told in 2019 and you'll be able to "read", "play", and "watch" these stories unfold. It all starts this month with the Alien: Resistance comic.

Prior to the new year, the official social media accounts for Alien posted a series of animated images that teased an expansion to the beloved sci-fi universe in 2019. There have been all sorts of talks about Alien movies and video games, but these specific teasers for A 6-Part Dossier Exposing the Secret History of Weyland-Yutani were believed to be in anticipation of the upcoming Dark Horse comic Alien: Resistance, starring Amanda Ripley.

It appears now, however, that 2019's franchise expansion will span multiple media verticals, including books, games, and films. The latest teaser this week once again focuses on Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley (played in the movies by Sigourney Weaver) and star of the 2013 video game Alien: Isolation. Labeling her a "daughter," "rebel," and "hero," the post proclaims that "Her story deserves to be told."

But it's how her story will be told that's the question. The clip ends with three intriguing words - "read," "watch," and "play" - which suggests 2019's content will come in the form of books/comics, a video game, and either a tv show or movie.

Of course, none of this should come as a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to the Alien news. We've heard numerous rumors for a television series and, most recently, talk of a new Alien video game. It was recently discovered that 20th Century Fox trademarked Alien: Blackout for use with computer game discs and software, which sounds like it could be some sort of follow-up to 2013's Alien: Isolation.

2019 has only just begun, but it seems like it's going to be an exciting year for fans of the Alien franchise.
