The untitled Neill BlomkampAlien” film is set to feature the return of Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) and Michael Biehn (Cpl. Hicks). Even though the plot for the film is currently unknown, we have been provided with some awesome concept art that showcased a scarred Hicks, a battle ready Ripley, and an all grown up Newt. Earlier last year, it was revealed by Blomkamp that his new Alien film will take place after Aliens, and ignore the events of Alien 3 and 4. “My favorites are the first two movies, so I want to make a film that’s connected to Alien and Aliens. That’s my goal. I’m not trying to undo Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection, I just want it to be connected to Alien 1 and 2.”

The Aliens sequel was set to be released next year, however, the filming of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus-sequel caused Fox to shelve Blomkamp’s project. The film is currently scheduled to start production sometime next year. Sigourney Weaver, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, had this to say about the delay, “Well, we have a great script. Fox asked us to delay so Ridley Scott could shoot his [second] Prometheus movie. That was too bad because we would have already done it by now.” Weaver then added, “Now that we’re waiting for that, I have a couple of Avatars to do and Neill has “The Gone World”. So we’ll have to see what happens when we get back, when those projects are over.” After all the complications are over, Weaver says she’s still looking forward to capping off Ripley’s epic journey. “It’s a great story and it’s satisfying to me to give this woman an ending.” The 66-year old actress then elaborated and revealed that Blomkamp’s film will also explore the Xenomorphs and their motives. “The script itself has so much in it that’s so original, but also really satisfies the, I would say, the primal needs of the aliens. It’s a tribute to all of the great work that the other directors have done, in a way, but goes in a completely new direction. I hope we’ll do it.”

Based on the details provided by Weaver, will this be Ripley’s final run? Will Blomkamp’s film see the end of the war between Xenomorphs and humans, or will it branch off into another story based on Newt? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I feel like FOX isn't going to move forward with this project, especially if Promethus 2 is a huge success. Just my deep thoughts

I know, guys. Tragic mistake Fox.

We were all pumped for this movie and it sounds as though it would have been perfect.

I hope to fvck they do this asap.

@sKeemAn - yeah, the art was not that good but the stories were.

I will never know how Dark Horse has always been in the dark in this site, they have some amazing titles out there

@KikinGonzalez - I was just about to bring that series up. Glad someone did. I didn't mind Nelson's artwork all that much on the first series. I thought he did a bang up job with those inks. Even though it's not canon, I definitely favor that storyline more than where they went with it in the movies.

@Reo5150 - totally agree with you bro! the story lines featured on those comic books was smart and well defined. And yeah, the art was ok, what I loved most was the covers haha

Ummmmm... yeah.. that would be called, Alien "3". The number three comes after the number two. Not really understanding his logic here.

Don't get me wrong. This is the movie I want to see. BUT, that being said, he is indeed "undoing" Alien 3.

@G - He's basically saying in a nice way that it will be an alternative ending instead of Alien 3. By not officially undoing those films, the people can have a choice of ending they prefer. Alien 3 isn't in the same league as the first two, that's the problem.

Let's see the shitstorm that happens the day The Godfather Part 2.5 is announced. :D

This is a case of Ridley Scott not wanting to let others play with his toys. He already took another shot
at the Alien franchise with Promethus and should have shot the Blade Runner sequel first before doing
a follow up.

For a couple of years,he didn't really seem to make it a priority to do another Alien film, then suddenly,
word gets out about Sigourney Weaver resetting the franchise with a concept that fires up the fan base
and Ridley comes back to shut it down.(For a little while anyway.

We could have had an Aliens 2 with Sigourney and a Ridley Scott directed Blade Runner sequel next year.

Shame.
