No more ape puns.. probably. Variety are reporting that Serkis has joined the cast of the upcoming Apes reboot, Rise Of The Apes. Apparently he will be playing Ceaser, the chimpanzee who leads the revolution against mankind after being raised by a father and son team of scientists(John Lithgow and Lames Franco).
Fans will of course know Serkis best as
Gollum In
The Lord Of The Rings movies, but he also provided the stop motion movements/voice and facial features for another famous ape,
King Kong. Anyway, they couldn't have found a better actor for this imo, the mans fantastic. This project also reunites Serkis with WETA Digital, the special effects team behind
LOTR.
Chernin Entertainment are producing the film which also stars Frieda Pinto(Mmmm). Rupert Wyatt will begin directorial duties next month, and the film is expected to hit theaters 24th June 2011.
