'AVATAR' Sequel Confirmed!!!

'AVATAR' Sequel Confirmed!!!

We all knew it was coming, and now James Cameron has spoken up and officially confirmed 'AVATAR 2'.

This from EW.com:

“I’ve had a storyline in mind from the start — there are even scenes in Avatar that I kept in because they lead to the sequel,” Cameron says. “It just makes sense to think of it as a two or three film arc, in terms of the business plan. The CG plants and trees and creatures and the musculo-skeletal rigging of the main characters — that all takes an enormous amount of time to create. It’d be a waste not to use it again.”

No word on a time frame but it is said that Sam Worthington is confirmed to reprise his role of Jake Sully and has even emailed EW with a few plot ideas:

“Jake should have abused his avatar and be fat and unfit and demand Neyteri to get him a beer.”

Sounds like even death won't keep Avatar's main villain away from reprising his role. Stephen Lang who played Colonel Miles Quaritch had this to say:

“You think those two arrows in my chest are going to stop me from coming back?” Nothing’s over so long as they’ve got my DNA.”

The weird thing with Hollywood is that you never know what their next move will be? Cameron might choose to produce 'Avatar 2', leaving the director duties to someone he feels deserves that type of shot. This off course would open the door to other possibilities for James to explore. Probably not though. 'Avatar' is James Cameron's baby, he wont leave it till it's big and fat and can't eat anymore.

Well with a first movie that was so good and made so much money you know they want a second and the second should be just as good as the first

Isn't this word for word the same thing Cameron said before the studio said there were no official plans for a sequel, just before the premiere?

Not saying that there won't be a sequel, but he's said this before, so I wouldn't view it as confirmation of a sequel until we start seeing details.

Good for him to have a story prepared for more than one movie. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a sequel. There's a lot more they could do on Pandora. :)

I'm not sure where he could go with a second movie, but regardless I'll go see it.

I want some blue sex scenes!!! ok kidding...Of course there would be a sequel. It most likely wont do as well as this one but could still be very good.

I'd really hate for my first comment on this site (which I have been visiting for years now, yet never took the time to participate in) to be a negative one, so I'll start with this,
I'm RinjoClans, you can call me Rinjo if you'd like, how are you?
that being said...
maybe this has been covered already, but what the hell does Avatar have to do with comic books? are we going with the weak connection that it's a "comic-book-esque" story? or what?

hahahhahahahah teabag you old coot.

There are other moons there to explore. I'll give'em the benefit of the doubt. Jimmy Cam has done us all right in the past (Titanic notwithstanding) so I'm in for $15 whatever the story may be.

@rinjo this site post any trailer linked even by the tinniest(and mean tinniest)connection to comic books but its not all bad man you get to check out other movie.

I dunno, I'll admit that I hated Avatar, so maybe I'm just sick of hearing about it, but I was just wondering if there was a better answer out there. So far all I've found is "if you don't like it, you don't have to click on it." So I suppose that's just what I'll do!

Sigh, I dont think it needs a sequel! Still, if its as good as the first one I wont complain!

Woooh sweet. I get what he's saying about all the CG stuff going to waste, it does make business sense..

If they can get the same crew working on it and have all the CGI from the first movie to work off, I can only imagine a sequel will be spectacular (visually at least).

Hey there Rinjo, welcome. Well, long answer it is then! Basically, a sci-fi movie that generates a lot of buzz like Avatar or District 9 will tend to be covered here. But there are more connections to comics too. In Avatar's case it would be James Cameron, who is responsible for the Terminator movies and Aliens which are both comic book staples now. As a rule we do stuck to movies based on, or that have had comics spin offs after, but a few do slip through because of sheer coverage. I suppose CBM just feels that the site visitors will generally be sci fi/Fantasy fans seeing as they love CBM's so much and would be interested in some info.

Cameron did say, on the HBO first Look documentary, he'd like to explore the other moons surounding Pandora.
juggy4711
juggy4711 - 1/14/2010, 6:50 PM
Realistically it would be the Earth strikes back. Anything worth as much as that stuff was would be worth a full fledged invasion. However I seriously doubt Cameron would portray anything so realistic as an advanced civillization pulling out all the stops to destroy a primitive one.

The story will have to be much better this time around to get me too see it. While Avatar in 3D was eye-candy^10, the story sucked^10.

He didn't leave Terminator until he thought that it was done, and he'll do the same with this. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to it.
