Ben Affleck Exits THE STAND; Scott Cooper Takes Over

Obviously Affleck stepping into the cape and cowl means his planned directorial projects will have to be sacrificed -- and one of those casualties of The Bat is the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper will replace him..

Those hoping to see Ben Affleck's considerable directorial skills put to use on Warner Bros. planned adaptation of The Stand are in for some disappointment, as his commitment to playing Batman in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel means he's had to drop out of the project. But, according to THR WB have found a replacement in Scott Porter, who directed Jeff Bridges to an Oscar in the brilliant Crazy Heart and who's next movie, Out of the Furnace, stars former Batman Christian Bale, brother of new Batman Casey Affleck and Guardians Of The Galaxy's Zoe Saldana. Quite a cast, so it'll be very interesting to see who he lines up to play Randall Flagg, Nick Andros, Stue Redman and the rest of the characters from The Stand.

I'm not a "Marvel fanboy" the way people might think.
I can't stand the child-protective gear they're making Captain America wear.
I thought the Mandarin should have been handle much better. In other words, keep the rings AND lose the offensive "Fu Manchu" caricature.
Why doesn't the Black Widow use her widow's Bite?
I hate the fact that Iron Man maybe in the Guardian's movie. I get the reason - don't like it.
Not every decision Marvel movies make is right or perfect.

For DC/Warner, this is one of THOSE decisions. Not good. He's a fine actor most of the time. And yes, we "have to get over it" and "we'll just have to wait and see." But as this whole website is about info and opinion, I thought I'd put my two cents in – he aint right for the role. Mayybbbeee he'll surprise us. Maybe it'll make enough money to satisfy Warner Bros. requirements to justify a Justice League movie.
Maybe.
But I think many "DC fanboy trolls" will be disappointed with him in the movie.

And I don't care if Oswalt was kidding. Given an Affleck Batman, he'd be fine as a Joker. Why not? I'm sure his comic side will lend a certain realism to the role.

Didn't the actor who played Cyclops sacrifice Cyclops wanting him to die in X3 so he could play Lois's boy toy in Superman Returns?

I believe in the Batffleck.

If WBs didn't give in to fanboys who hated a certain actor who is a short comedian with a perm as Batman, they won't give into Affleck.

Last Batman fans petitioned against was Beetlejuice and he killed it as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

History is repeating itself.

"History is repeating itself."

That's like, "Because I said so," or "When I was a kid . . ."

Not very persuasive.

When it was rumored way back that Aflleck may direct and star in Justice League, I thought he would either be Batman or Hal Jordan. Was hoping for Hal because I wasn't sold on Affleck as Batman but was cool with it if it happened.

Yes DC is set for suicide by getting a good actor for Batman, having the man who has an Oscar in writing help write the film, and having the man who has an Oscar for directing the best film of the year to direct the Batman Reboot.

Yea DC is set for suicide. Meanwhile Marvel lets RDJ run the show.
