Christopher Nolan's Inception to Become Video Game

While promoting Inception in Italy, director Christopher Nolan announced that the film would serve as source material for a video game.

Says Nolan, "We are looking at developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film. That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years. I did always intend for this film to give a mass audience a really entertaining experience. But my fear with the film was always that it would be misinterpreted as being overly cerebral or puzzle-like.""

At this point, Inception has grossed $753 million at the global box office.

There's nor reason to think that Nolan won't be involved with the game, and as long as he's intimately involved with its development, it should work within the framework of the film and please fans.

Im clearly insanely biased in this discussion, but too many people these days make the common mistake of looking at a film as a movie and vice versa. While Im sure some of you will disagree, hopefully the more well read and learned posters understand where Im coming from when I say there is a stark difference between a movie and a film. While I wont go into detail explaining in depth those differences, I will however defend Inceptions merits as a film.

Obviously I love comic book movies, but theres a reason why we type movie when we come to this site and not film. Inception was a film created to both make us think from start to finish but to also take us through a story which to this point hadn't been done (well) and it succeeded. Youre lying while trying to seem 'above' the film if you say it wasnt complex or you didnt think much throughout the film, while I'll be the first to agree that once you understand the film its easy to look back and say "oh hey that wasnt as bad as I thought" that still doesnt undermine the mental tasking you undertook to get to this climax. I'll close up quickly in saying that if you say this isnt a cinematics masterpiece or wont be remembered in 2 years, chances are the genesis for your criticism is that you didnt get the film or youre going against the grain for the sake of calling attention to your name.

As far as the video game goes, I'll go against the current this website has generated and hold my criticism for AFTER the game is released.

Sorry for the ramblings guys, I understand everyones entitled to their own opinions but its nice to see an educated one now and again.

And you validated my point by separating yourself from those who are well read and learned. My saying Im biased isn't in regards to anything outside of my appreciation for great cinematography, its not because I loved one film in particular. Regardless, I dont allow myself to fall into the trenches of verbal warfare with someone whos greatest battle isnt against me, but instead their grasp of the english language. Im sure Vampires Suck is your first ballet oscar nominee, kudos.

really man, godfather is a masterpiece in my mind too but it ran much slower then inception, and wut u saw is wat u got no need to think it through and star wars, i liked that series but the story contradicts itself even in the original trilogy(LUKE KISSED HIS SISTER) All u gotta say is u don like the movie but don say it cant be a masterpiece because it doesnt fit the criterea of your list of movies that have there own flaws. Inception is so good because the flaws and inconsistancies can all be argued as it was done on purpose. and weneedrevelation I don know bout any1 else but I wont forget anyone of those flicks

The departed was amazing, I wish I would have seen it on the big screen as opposed to on my laptop at 7 am. I got too antsy half way through and actually googled the ending, biggest mistake of my life

if the cast is back to voice there characters in da game and Nolan an his bro write the script for the game and have Nolan direct the game or some1 else and have the people that did the graphics for gears and batman arkum asylum.

inception is a master piece , the godfather is a good movie for its time and empire strikes back was alright an so was raiders of the lost ark. you can not compare those movies to the movies of know cause they are out dated for this age and i mean out dated by the years and the technology. and not even the comic book movie can catch up to inception maybe the dark knight but thats it. and im 16 and im studying to become a director/screen writer/ actor.

He says the video game will be based on the world of the film, not the film itself.

Imagine if you will, a game based around a completely different crew of extractors.

intruder- people don't give a shit about the star wars movie or star trek shit or comic book movie. they only give a shit to cartoon made into movies or books made into movies or video game made into movies. and all im trying to say is that you can't compare inception to the god father 2 different movies. and the old star war movies were shit if they were master pieces than people would remember them i only know about part 1 and if people do remember it is cause of the 3 that game out years ago. and the god father is a master piece for its times not our time yea people still talk about it and there are people still talking about inception know. but i don't think the god father is a master piece just a good mob movie.
