Does Ridley Scott's New Blade Runner Project Have A Writer?

Twitch think so. They have revealed that Contagion scribe Scott Burns is the favorite to pen the screenplay for Scott's mysterious new Blade Runner..

Nobody really knows exactly what Ridley Scott is planning with his new Blade Runner movie. Will it be a remake, a sequel, a prequel..or the dreaded "Re-imagining"? I'm sure all will be revealed soon enough but for now at least it appears the project has a writer..

Sources tell Twitch that Scott Burns - writer of Contagion and The Bourne Ultimatum - has been identified as the top choice to write the picture by both Scott himself, his producers at Alcon and the project's backers at Warner Brothers and that all parties are now involved in active talks to make it happen.

Burns also penned the underrated Matt Damon flick The Informant for director Steven Soderbergh. I wasn't thrilled at the news of a new Blade Runner but with Scott himself at the helm it's hard not to to be excited at the same time. And Burns is a hell of a writer too so things seem to be shaping up nicely.

Scott's directing so I have faith, but I do kinda find it funny that he's gone back to of his properties that have sort of defined him.

I'd prefer if it was a prequel, to be honest. Kinda like how Prometheus is being called an Alien prequel, I'd like to see something like that with Blade Runner.
And I'm glad Scott is returning to direct, good to know it won't be a remake or anything.

As for the writer, I'd say it's a good choice. I still need to see Contagion (parents have been wanting to check it out), but Bourne Ultimatum is a fantastic film. I think he'd be good for Blade Runner.

The director's cut of Blade Runner is terrible so I am not excited by this.

Intruder@ I like the other version more without Deckard´s narration. Its more mystical and fascinating. :)

Rutger Hauer´s Roy Batty is still one of my favorite movie characters ever! Hauer´s best performance!

Sequel or prequel would be cool but HELL NO to remake.

Intruder@ Thats true yeah but to me the quiet and solemn moment works better. No one doesnt need to say anything Deckard´s facial expressions tells how he feels right know. I´ve always liked movies which doesnt explain much. But of course it is good that there is more than one version of the movie. So everyone can enjoy it.

Marvel72@ They have all their own magic.

Marvel72@ Thou cant say anything about that fifth cause i havent seen it either but all others are cool.
The Final Cut is my favorite.
