"Fear is the mind killer..."

An international TV spot for Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune sequel has been shared online (via SFFGazette.com), and while it's basically a truncated version of the most recent trailer, it does contain a couple of brief new shots.

The first shows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) rushing into battle with their Fremen allies in an attempt to hold back the combined forces of the Harkonnen army and the Emperor's ferocious Sardaukar. We also get another glimpse of Paul's climactic duel against the ruthless nephew of the Baron, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who will be played by Elvis star Austin Butler).

Fans were looking forward to seeing more from the movie during its San Diego Comic-Con panel, but we recently got word that it - along with several other major panels - has now been cancelled due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on Dune: Part Two, the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning Dune.

The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (Wonka, Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Malcolm & Marie, Euphoria), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (Avengers: End Game Milk), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (Elvis, Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Little Women), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).

Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

The first trailer for Dune 2 set a bar in my opinion. The editing was amazing. The pacing, the music, all breathtaking. I suspect it will be studied and copied. Kinda like the Bwahhh! Sound was after Inception came out. Every trailer used it no matter of it fit or not.

@DarthOmega - Yep! It was all I needed after watching the first movie to know that I am all in on day one for Dune 2. I havent and wont be watching any other clips or trailers since then (did not watch the one in this article). Media blackout for me.

@Shivermetimbers - Same. That's why I talked about the first. I'm familiar with how this story plays out of course, but I still want to walk into the theater fresh. I always try to skip the second, third, international, and several TV spots. It's like "I'm already sold, no need for more"

@DarthOmega - Yeah, it isn't a mystery how the story should unfold, but I want the spectacle of it all to be fresh. So excited!

My biggest nightmare could come true. I may have to choose between Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve for Best Picture / Best Director.

@GhostDog - Unless Dune is a flop...you can kind of feel that is where we are heading. I still have to see there films but if they are both as epic as they look. I will not be rooting for Best Director this year. I don't think I can choose.
